And it will still mean absolutely nothing come football season. Just the rage du jour.

I'm disappointed in his comments about Taylor. Saban had the golden opportunity to admit fault and take a stand, but he did neither. He wouldn't even say that he regrets letting Taylor in, or that he would reconsider allowing another DV case on the football team. Instead he came across as stubborn and placed all of the blame on Taylor. Nevermind that JT shouldn't have been given a second (third) chance to begin with.
Agreed.

K. Well here's what Saban actually said:

quote:

6:40: Saban on Jonathan Taylor: "I think it's very unfortunate that the guy came here with some very specific guidelines and zero tolerance and obviously didn't live up to that. While we've created many opportunities for players through the years, sometimes those things have worked out extremely well, we're sad to say in this case it didn't. We all take responsibility for that."

6:25: Saban said he never considered dismissing Geno Smith from the team. "There is a series of things he has to do" before he can return to the team, Saban said.

6:20: Jonathan Taylor underwent psychological evaluations, counseling and other requirements and had done a good job with all of that leading up to the incident Saturday, Saban said. "I still think he's a good person, but he has a problem."

6:17: Saban on Jonathan Taylor: "I'm not sorry for giving him an opportunity. I'm just sorry how things worked out."

6:16: Saban on Jonathan Taylor: "We certainly don't condone that kind of behaivor."

6:15: Saban: "A little disappointed in Geno Smith." Saban said Smith will be able to return to practice after he takes care of responsibilities behind the scenes that Saban declined to disclose.

6:14: Saban on Jonathan Taylor: "I'm very, very sorry how this worked out."

Saban looked very uneasy and uncomfortable up there. I guess it was a good thing for him that they ended it quickly and got him out. He would have continued digging a deeper hole and if he had stayed another 15 minutes it would have been a classic.

Me too. I was looking forward to seeing Cam Sims ball out this season.

Good post.

Not being anti-bama, this is just common sense.

His full quotes don't look that much better.

Bringing a dog that bit someone to your neighborhood to give it a second chance and it bites a girl down the street, you can't just say "wish it would have worked out". You say "I am extremely sorry for bringing these problems into our community and I hope the girl recovers quickly , physically and emotionally"

Nice way of distorting what he said. We should have never let Taylor in, but Alabama did all it could to rehabilitate the guy.

If you have to require of a guy that has already committed felony DV and check fraud DV counseling and anger management, is a powerhouse college football program on a campus full of otherwise unassuming students really the place he needs to be for rehabilitation?

Hmm didnt see that he did.

Well I am also very disappointed in the lack of using "bamboozled" in any of his statements. You have very few times in your life to use it and he missed it.
