Just means that Texas is fully prepared to throw the kitchen sink at Marshall.

I would argue top 5, to be honest. He is great with X's and O's, and turned Wichita St into a perennial threat to do damage in the tournament. I envy the program that inks him....

Just for perspective purposes Greg Marshall is 20th in win percentage among active coaches while residing in perhaps the worst conference in America. Lets be real here, he in no way is top 10.

Self - I like Self, but this is the guy Marsall JUST beat in the NCAA tourney with less talent, correct?
Ollie - has a title, hard to beat, but that's his only metric. Would you say he's better than Smart, Pearl, Few, Self, Miller, or others without title? Doubtful. How'd he do this year? How about his first year? He's got to prove his 2nd season wasn't fluke/flash in pan. Hell, Chizik won a title too.
Boeheim - meh. title? yes. trouble? hell yes.
Ryan - 15 years older than Marshall. How did he look at 52 compared to Marshall's results thus far?
Miller - how is he better than Marshall? I've been told Final Fours are a HUGE metric (since Bama's never made one) and Marshall has him beat here.
Smart - tied on # of Final Fours. Marshall more Sweet 16s. Shaka inherited strong program. Marshall did not. Win %s are similar.
Matta - subjective, but I could make a case for him. he's at a school with embarrassment of resources
Few - stable and consistent. Zero final four appearances in 16 years at Gonzaga. One Elite Eight (this year).
Wright - same # of final fours. Marshall better win percentage. Wright hasn't made past 2nd round in 6 years.

6 no arguments. The rest are debatable. Marshall would walk into SEC as the 3rd best coach in conference.

Ollie? He's coached a total of 3 years. In his first year they were ineligible for the tourney (but wouldn't have made it with their 20-10 record and 10-8 conference record). In his second year they had an amazing run and won it all. In his third year they lost in the first round of the NIT. We need to see whether or not that 2nd season is a fluke or not because right now it is the extreme outlier.

It's an upgrade over Tyndall. If true, it's a great hire.

agree. doesn't make one a better coach than another. Is Chizik better than Chip Peterson? How about Larry Coker? Is he better than Mark Richt? Are Chizik OR Coker better than Malzahn?

The answer to each of those questions is no. In each case, the coach without the title is better than the coach with a title. Titles are trump cards when comparing similar resumes. When they are the extreme exception to what your resume looks like, they are often considered won in spite of you, not because of you.
