fricking Christ! Are you wanting to argue that Marshall is not a top ten coach? And by no means am I saying he is coming to Bama but I think most everyone agrees he is a top ten coach.

Coachk
Pitino
Izzo

Cal
Donovan
Roy
Self
Ollie
Boeheim

Ryan
Miller
Smart

Those are 12 that could def be considered better off the top of my head. Bolded ones have national titles

Marshal is a great coach but to say he is surefire top 10 is disingenuous

ETA: Matta, Few, Wright make the list 15

Much better coach and recruiter than Gregg Marshall. H will have Tennessee back in the tournament within 2 years. Great hire.
Why the hell did Texas fire him?

To put this hire in perspective for TN...remember this isn't TN football.

“NCAAT App:
Tenn -20
R. Barnes-22

Sweet Sixteens:
Tenn -7
R. Barnes-6

Elite Eights:
Tenn -1
R. Barnes-3

Final Fours:
Tenn-0
R. Barnes-1”

Great hire. He is by far the worst Xs and Os coach Tennessee will have ever had. The only bad part of this hire is that UT might finally fire Hart. That would be too bad for the rest of the SEC.

You must not have watched much Clownzo ball.

This is a great hire for our situation IMO. Come in, bring stability for 5-7 years and then go after a young up and comer with the next search. We upgraded over Tyndall and Martin. Good day for VOLS

Not a flashy hire, that's for sure. Let's hope his downfall at Texas hasn't left him complacent and just looking for another paycheck.

Good hire! Crazy how a few years has completely changed SEC basketball. Barnes @ Tenn, Howland at MSU, Pearl at AU. Bama set to get a good hire also! SEC BASKETBALL FEVER

Apparently they asked him to make staff changes, but he wouldn't bend. At that point they agreed to part ways.

By no known metric is Marshall a top ten coach. Good yes, top ten no.

He's been a college coach for 17 years and has won his conference's championship in 8 of those 17 years. He's made Wichita State a #1 seed, has guided them to a perfect regular season (something only TWO teams - WSU & Kentucky) have managed to do in the last 25 years), inherited a mess at WSU and had them turned completely around in two years, and has averaged 30 wins per season over the last 5 years.

Show me 10 guys better.

and for those listing Smart as "better", I want to see you not back-track on that if Bama lands him instead of Marshall.

And barnes has wasted more talent than any other coach in D1 in the last decade+. He has regularly had more talent than kansas and has very little to show for it.

He has accomplished more than Tennessee has in our history (NCAA tourney wise).

So I'm cool with it.
