@GoodmanESPN: Vanderbilt big man Damian Jones will return for his junior season, sources told ESPN.

Should be setting up for a big year.

I think we're in good shape with Portis.

He's off basically all the draft boards for 2015. Qualls, I don't feel as good about.

If we get both back, watch out.

You're drunk as frick at 3pm?

Portis is projected #14 overall on ESPN's latest Mock Draft. They have him in the 13-18 range and bubble lottery pick AFTER the NCAAT.

Bobby Portis, PF, So., Arkansas

Portis had a very rough shooting tournament. He went 10-for-27 from the field and struggled to assert himself offensively in either game. However, he was absolutely terrific on the boards, grabbing 13 rebounds against Wofford and 14 against North Carolina. He also had three assists and five steals against the Tar Heels, showing off his bona fide defensive skills. Portis is a bubble lottery pick right now; look for him to go in the No. 13 to 18 range.

He's been pulled from a number of boards that I've seen and added to 2016.

Not because of talent, because they figure he's staying.

If not, it may be the end for Stallings. This team will be too talented to not make the dance next year.

Well ESPN has him going #14 overall and DraftExpress has him going #18. The only other site I use is DraftNet and they haven't had Portis on their 2 round board all year because he's likely staying.

But we'll see. I don't think I'd turn down a Top 15 pick, but good for us if he does.

The thing that sucks if you are a Vandy fan is that if Vandy makes the NCAAt next year, it just prolongs Stallings tenure a few more years.

Stallings is a good coach and these next 2 teams will be two of his better teams. He's recruited well the last 2 years and the results should start to pay off in a big way. He has underachieved with talented teams in the past. If he can't win at a high level with this talent, then he's out the door.

Vandy will have a good squad next year, which in Stallings terms means they will underachieve and get bounced in the first round of the tournament if they make it.

Now give him a bunch of scrubs from the local Y and he'll make them respectably competitive. Very strange.
