Why are "fiscally conservative" republicans against marijuana legalization?

i honestly don't know a lot of repubs that are against it at this point. maybe establishment farts, but it's not the majority consensus currently.

As a self-identifying conservative who has never smoked anything of any kind, I see no goddamn good reason against legalizing marijuana.

Yes, my jimmies are slightly rustled over the fact that others of my persuasion disagree, but I feel the tide is turning.

Please describe which fiscally conservatives are against it, and why this seems to be a contradiction in your opinion.

I'm a fiscal conservative and I am for legalization for Texas. The federal government has no place in drug legislation.

The majority of them aren't. If you consider yourself to be "middle of the road", stop posting far left lies and propaganda.

Missouri confuses me so much. they give us greatness like 808 and killz and then give us the likes of Mizz-Cou, ST, and this idiot.

It's taken me awhile to catch onto the jimmy rustling thing...but I finally have it. Turns out you only have to throw out some liberal topics for the OTBoard to go insane. Even better when I play devils advocate.

But yes, I am a moderate in real life. I vote for Dems and Republicans in every election.

I am fiscally conservative but not a republican or against marijuana legalization.

I am all about the government making tax revenue off of people's vices.

I don't know many "fiscally conservative" repubs that are against it.

During the debate here regarding allowing farmers to grow hemp again (marijuana without the THC), the opposition was largely religious based groups who felt it would easily hide marijuana which they're strongly against. The same groups have been fighting to keep counties out in the state dry as well.

And since your hard religious conservatives tend to be republican, that's probably where it's coming from.
