Might be up around there this weekend wondering if there's any good put-ins in the immediate area. Got just a plain sit-on-top kayak, no whitewater stuff. Anyone familiar with the creeks/rivers to know if there's something I should look into?

Looking at Mulberry Fork around Cordova- anyone spent time in it? Any fishing to be had?

Yes my friend but she costs a pretty penny. You will need to bring your own whips for her to use and will need a safety word for your session with her. Top shelf lady though and will bring much happiness. Let me know.

great fishing in the area. several good launch spots. the easiest to find and use would probably be right off Hwy 78 at Argo at the Lisa Taylor Wallace bridge. its about halfway between Dora & Jasper. not sure if its still open but there was a pretty good restaurant right below that launch. think it was called Jean's On The River or something like that. first place I ever ate fried pickles.

My little brother paddles @ Mulberry for whitewater stuff. Would not reccomend a sit-on-top for there.

You should check out the Sipsey Fork of the Black Warrior river for fishing. It's one of the few places within the state to catch rainbow trout. Some of the clearest water around and cold as shite.

I had the same initial thought. Wasn't sure about "nice" though. Naughty/Stern maybe...

Five Mile Creek around Brookside/Graysville several good put in spots. Village Creek below Bayview Lake you can put in at Shady Grove Rd about 2 miles off hwy 269.

OP be aware if you put in at Cordova you could encounter barge traffic from there down river. There is a good put in up at Sipsey but I have never left a truck there & not sure if its safe or bad about break ins there. something you have to consider in these areas.

Good to know. We're in it for the scenery, not the workout, so we like to drop yaks off and park down river, then take a 2nd car back to the top.

could do hwy 78 to cordova or go on all the way to gross camp on hwy 269 at copeland's ferry. cant beat the scenery on that trip. gross camp and cane creek launch on massachussets ave in cordova I have used hundreds of times and never had a problem or heard of any.

swoopin also be advised if you go from hwy 78 to Cordova that River RD, right there where the hwy 78 launch is, would appear by map to be the most direct route. the bridge right before entering downtown Cordova is out so you have to take Horse Creek Blvd further up hwy 78 at Dora. that might save you 45 minutes because I dont think there was a sign up last time I went through there until you got to the bridge.
