Anyone else disappointed with CNS after the conference?

Not really. Saban is never going to say "I/we made a mistake."

I'm not disappointed in him at all. Screw anyone that suggests he should have fallen over the podium and apologize.

He answered everyone's questions fairly. He only refused to answer the one "tell us about your vetting process with recruits" because that's a dumb question.

Even though he was clearly annoyed, he didn't snap at anyone, he took basically what seemed like 8 or 9 questions in a row, all about the same thing without cutting it off.

Finebaum expressed disappointment after the presser, saying he might have made Bama look even worse, but he didn't explain why. I'm not sure what Finebaum is talking about.

Every year, kids do stupid crap, and often violent crap, and get kicked off teams. Media doesn't expect the coach to apologize for recruiting him.

And as far as the fact Taylor had previous violence, Saban plainly admitted they learned something from this.

Like another one of you said a few pages back.... in a week or two this will all be water under the bridge and there will be some all new outrage somewhere else.

In the end, this will always go back to being another case of Richt losing control, where all of this spawned. This may end up being the greatest loss of control in Richt's career, when it's all said and done.

That's idiotic. Does Saban need to hold a press conference every time a kid does something illegal and terrible?

You take a chance every time you sign a kid. He's signed kids with glowing remarks from their families that ended up making Alabama look bad. And kids with issues that turned out great. Why is this about Saban and not Taylor?

No, because I know that Saban was coming from a good place with his decision to accept him in the first place. I thought he answered the questions pretty fairly.

I'm not sure what everyone wanted Saban to say. He tried to help a kid and it backfired.

He sounded lost when it came to the process for him being admitted. He wasn't close to being sharp. We can be critical of him. While he did handle it without snapping, he refused to admit wrong. He said just enough to get by, which isn't what the media wanted. The backlash is going to be stronger after that presser. It's not about what we as fans think.

I would have liked to hear him say that he won't allow anymore DV cases into UA. Instead he gave a vague "we will evaluate" statement that didn't sit well with me. He also didn't mention the victim at all in his conference. I was just disappointed that he had the perfect platform to stand up against DV and instead did an elaborate coach speak dance around the questions.

Did I say otherwise

When has Saban ever given the media what they wanted?

Honestly, I doubt Saban gives a shite...

He actually did apologize for "those that were affected by the incident."

What was "elaborate" about what he said? It all sounded pretty straightforward to me.

It's not about giving the media what they wanted. It's about admitting you screwed up by giving a scholarship to a woman beater instead of an 18 year old who deserved it.

I didn't expect any different. Saban is committed to being that way and it will never change.

ETA: if you listen to the conference, he is so lost when it comes to what Taylor did to become a part of the program. He stumbles. I know people make mistakes, but Saban rarely sounds lost. In that moment, he didn't sound like he knew exactly what Taylor had done.

Fair enough, but I wish it would have been more direct.

The Jonathan Taylor is a "good person" quote will probably be reappearing a lot in the press.

It matters to the media. They will roast him hard for not giving them the responses they wanted.

To Saban? We're all well aware that he doesn't give a shite what they think.

Who should Saban have apologized too? Who deserved the apology?
