How do you know who he talked to?

This was posted January 10th:

Mark Richt asked if he was contacted by anyone at Alabama in regards to DL John Taylor and he says he was not ...

I'll try to find the source on the prosecution.

There were separate reports that CNS hadn't talked to Richt or the DA about Taylor. The whole thing just never made sense to me. We took a guy with pending DV charges in the wake of the whole Ray Rice incident when DV and football players is a huge issue and CNS doesn't even bother talking to Richt or the DA? And then CNS just layed into the local media preemptively about 2nd chances so they'd all tread lightly with questions about Taylor on NSD. Very disappointing as a Bama fan all the way around.

Doesnt matter if Richt was contacted. UGA has a huge staff and Saban may be closer to someone else on it. Not to mention someone lower on the staff probably knows the player on a more personal level. Either way its all speculation now. Im just betting Saban at least contacted someone on the staff because it fits into MO.

I fear for the safety of the reporters who try to bug Saban about this, he's not gonna be in the mood for their shite

Hopefully they can do crap in one question and focus on actual practice, but you know the media.

I'd give Saban question upon question about it if I were a media member. He deserves all of the flack he gets for this. Zero fricks given.

Well, I hope they're ok with him appreciating their interest in practice and leaving the podium.

In light of the Ray Rice situation, if I were about to take that big of a risk, I'd want to know what everyone from the head coach on down had to say about him. Even then I wouldn't risk it. As it is, CNS and Bonner put the football team before the university and it blew up in our faces.

The day he committed, I sent this email to Judy Bonner:
quote:

My name is UAFanFromNOLA, and I am a 1st year MS student in the Department of Biological Sciences. This is my 6th year here at the Capstone, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. One of the greatest pleasures I have been able to enjoy is the success our football team has had both on the field and in the community. Some of our strategic goals is to enhance the University's learning environment to attract and retain excellent students and develop a university-wide emphasis on leadership as a primary role of the flagship university of the State of Alabama.

I am writing to you today about my concern over the recruitment of Jonathan Taylor. This young man was dismissed from the University of Georgia after being charged with theft and domestic violence. Because many of the students look to the football team for a sense of community and spirit, many of the football players are considered leaders on campus. If Mr. Taylor is put in a leadership position, I believe, and I know that I am not alone in this, that allowing someone that shows a pattern of inexcusable behavior compromises the integrity of not only our football program but also our University.

I urge you to consider the message that would be sent to your students if you allow Mr. Taylor to join our University. That message would be that integrity is secondary to results and individuals with exceptional talent are not held accountable for their actions.

Thank you for your time, UAFanFromNOLA
This is the email I got back:
quote:

UAFanFromNOLA: Dr. Bonner asked me to reply to your email regarding Jonathan Taylor. Jonathan Taylor was admitted to The University of Alabama following the same procedures that the UA Admissions office uses to evaluate any student who has dealt with legal issues. The admissions process includes representatives from academic, legal, student affairs, student conduct, UAPD and counseling. Athletics is not involved in the admissions process. Taylor’s continued enrollment depends on his ability to fulfill all requirements the University has specifically mandated for him during his time as a UA student.
Thank you for sharing your concerns. Dr. Bonner,
I felt then they were giving some bullshite pr response, and I feel that more strongly now.

I love the university. I felt the exact same as your email. I believe they should expel students for much less. Whenever things get out like this, it tarnishes the university's reputation and that is unacceptable. We can try to get them help I'm all about that. However, going to any SEC institution, or college in general, is a privilege.. its not a right. Kick them out and let them figure it out elsewhere. I think that should apply to every single student at every single college there is. I don't accept the state meant "was admitted to the university following the same procedures" line. I want any college I've gone to (UA obviously) to hold themselves to a higher standard than that. If he went through the same admission procedures of me then the procedures need to be change. Period.

Didn't support the move of bringing the kid here in the first place.

This kid needs to be gone by Monday at the latest.

I hope Nick isn't starting to go the way of Don Shula. The problem Shula had at the end of his reign here in South Florida was he quit being Don Shula. He started tolerating things he never would have before. I hope these incidents (Pettway, JT, etc.) aren't the sign of things to come.

Lol, look at all the perfect saints without sins casting their stones. Now all of a sudden second chances is a bad thing.

I stand but Saban and my own experience. Second chances are good, heck they're great. Every single one of these posters who are talking smack have gotten 50 chances; if only they were judged by the same measure they judge others.... eh?

With that said, this kid has blown this second chance and that is before he even got the chance to use it. Saban and the university have done their own part to help him; it is his fault that he has literally no self-control.

If these reports are true, he has to go and fast. I guarantee in a decade he'll look back at how stupid and out of control he was and have serious regrets. He was given two prime opportunities and threw them away.... all for women that will never mean anything (He's not marrying them lol!) in the bigger picture of his life.

This is all on him.

Every Bama grad I know was against giving Jonathan Taylor a scholarship considering the crimes that he committed while at UGA. I care a lot more about the reputation of my University than winning football games. This is inexcusable and every Bama grad I know saw this coming.

Get off your high horse. I'll take a guess that the people in this thread have never hit a woman. Hell I've never even hit a guy. This POS is representing MY university. It is a privilege to attend and play football for the University of Alabama so you're damn right I'm gonna cast all the stones I want to.

When Bama was recruiting Jonathan Taylor wasn't it Bo Davis who wanted Taylor so bad and kind of talked Saban into bringing him in.

Just curious: Are you an alum/current student? It seems that most alum are on the side of not letting him in in the first place while most sidewalkers thought it was a good idea.
