If Bama is willing to fork over the cash, that's a good sign.

Coaching hires are key.

Arkansas made the wrong hire with Heath, when Broyles should have gone with Bill Self or given Mike his chance. Then again, Broyles skipped over Gregg Marshall and went with Altman. That lasted a day, then we ended up with Pelphrey.

Bad hires set our program back basically 10 years.

It's always a nervous time to be a fan, especially if you're not sure what you're going to get.

We went through this before. There's like 3 or 4 big name coaches that are even realistically available. After Marshall, it's a bunch of 2nd tier guys. You could go after Jay Wright or Jamie Dixon or someone with some baggage (Eustachy, etc). That's it.

Then you're to mid majors or assistants. Your opinion on this would be taken more seriously if you weren't just a giant Bama troll. And if you demonstrated a passing knowledge of basketball.

The leading candidate according to Forde might be Rick Pitino's son. So much for bama getting a big name

Anybody who can go and win some games at Minnesota is a decent coach. Wouldn't be a bad hire at all for Bama.

but...but....but...By Gawd! We're Alabubbabammer. We have 87 national championships in football. Everybody want to coach at Alabubbabammer. There must be some mistake.

It is a lie. The haters are just jealous of us.

Whoever Bama hires will be light years better than Bagman Jones.

I guess this just proves what some of us have been saying from the beginning. You can not solve problems by throwing money at it. Even the local press had Marshall to Bama for one reason, Money. Will the next candidate be offered $3M ?

Spending money on any sport but football is a losing venture. I would rather have Alabama concentrate on improving their academic standing than plopping down $3 million on a basketball coach.

Hey assphan, you have almost 5,000 posts and this is the best you can come up with? I think au had some recent bad hires. It's Alabama and eventually it will all work out, that's what really bothers you. Sure, it looks bad on the AD and the Athletic Dept. right now, but au wondered in the dark until Pearl, so it can be done.

Unlike you I'm not going to pretend to know anything about Richard Pitino, but you should at least look at what he took over. Tubby Smith is a great coach and only won 46% of his conference games there.

I wish Alabama would give Tim Floyd a long look out at UTEP, Jason Hooten, or maybe Brad Underwood.

Except basketball helps pay the bills. It is the 14th highest in profit in the country.

I'm really impressed that he still gets Bama fans that argue endlessly with him.
