Barnes is the winningest head coach in Texas basketball history, having led the team to the Final Four in 2003 while churning out NBA stars like Kevin Durant, LaMarcus Aldridge and T.J. Ford. But in recent seasons, prior to signing Myles Turner, Barnes has struggled to reel in the elite talent coming out of the state of Texas. The Longhorns surprisingly made the NCAA Tournament in 2014 — a run that earned Barnes a contract extension. But this season, Barnes led a preseason top-ten team into a No. 11 seed and an opening round tournament exit.

One potential landing spot for Barnes is Tennessee, sources said, with one source adding the job is “absolutely” his if he wants it. Barnes’ wife, Candy, is a Tennessee alum.

I'm cool with it. Would bring stability and integrity. Been to tourney 16 out of 17 years.

Naw. He'd be a good hire. He'll up your recruiting instantly. And he's not as bad a coach as he appeared to be at Texas.

Given the shitshow Roll Tide Dave has us in again, we could do a lot worse than Rick Barnes. All I want is someone who can stabilize the shitshow and make the dance every year.

Dave Hart's AD tactics are about as effective as the healing power of shrim

Well we have made the dance 7 times in a decade and were on the bubble til the end two of the years we didn't make it(the lone exception being this past year). I don't think it is unreasonable for a program like Tennessee to make the dance more often than not. Despite Roll Tide Dave being a senile AD, we have a lot of resources and assets in basketball.
