That doesn't mean anything. Jonathan Taylor was arrested at Georgia, for a felony and kicked off the team the next morning. Saban just welcomed him with open arms

It's sad how demonized people who get DUIs are because of MADD.

It isn't illegal to drive sober

My point is that the demonization of dui is overblown. Not saying it's no big deal.

I think it's a situation where you have to treat everyone the same, whether it's a .08 or a .28 considering driving drunk is a danger to everyone else on the road.

also, what would you suggest?

a lot of moms in MADD lost a child to a drunk driver, hence their passion.

Well the alabama legislature sees it differently. Penalties are stricter if you blow higher.

If it comes out that he blew .07 would you feel differently about this case?

I would feel differently if it comes back that he blew .15.

Almost everyone does it.

I just don't see it this way. But I also don't live in a rural area like you and plenty of others. I live in the city so no one I know drinks and drives. We just uber it everywhere.

I've lost loved ones to dui also. Some by their own hand and some by the hands of someone else who was drunk.

It's a terrible thing to do and I certainly never get behind the wheel if I'm drunk. But it took me a long time to learn that lesson. Didn't make me a terrible person and I'm thankful that I got a second chance

Yeah that's below the legal limit but I've seen lots of people arrested for blowing under the legal limit. Not saying it happens all the time, but it happens

I don't think it makes you a terrible person or anything. Not at all. I think some people just make dumb decisions. But I think you have to treat it harshly because it sets a precedent and it legitimately is putting others on the road at risk, which is pretty unfair.

.08 is ridiculously low. Many states used to have .10 until MADD got the Feds to make everyone go to .08 or lose federal highway money. Dropping the level didn't make an appreciable difference on fatalities, it just results in a lot more arrests and ruining people's lives.
