Worked for Pinkel. Nowadays winning the worst division this side of the ACC Coastal division, followed by an SEC title game beat down gets you lifetime tenure at Mizzou.

Except 2013 was one of the top 8 seasons are far as strength in SEC East history.

Florida is the exception to the rule when comparing history. The population boom in the state of Florida changed everything.

Florida's program history consists of a little over 10 relevant years with Spurrier and a one night stand with Urban Meyer. Outside of that, Florida is no different from the MSUs and Kentuckys of the world.

The SECCG era is 23 years old. "A little over 10 relevant years" does not equal 23 years. Of course Spurrier built the program, of course he and Meyer had the most success. But to say we're no different than the UK's and MSU's of the world is ridiculous.
I understand that Spurrier's 11-1 record and complete domination of LSU is a sore subject. Not to mention that 58-3 win in Baton Rouge in 1993.

When considering the state as a whole, it's pretty remarkable.

From 1984-1988, Jimmy Johnson had the state on lockdown and went
52-9

Then
From 1987-2000, Bobby Bowden had the state on lockdown and went
152-19-1

And
From 1990-2001, Steve Spurrier went
122-27-1 and brought the Florida Gator program to the spotlight as Bowden eventually started declining

Then
From 2005-2010, Urban Meyer came in to the Florida Gator program and went
65-15

Then

From 2010-2014, Jimbo Fisher resurrected Florida State and went
58-11

1) That was a post from someone else that I quoted
2) 11 years of Spurrier + 6 years of Meyer account for 100% of your championships
3) 1997

UF, Miami, and FSU all can trace their success to the population boom in the state of Florida from the late 1970s onward.

Heard this on the radio.

UF only has 7 scholarship O lineman and one of those has been injured. QB? Champ didn't leave him much to work with on the O.

What? The 90s was when Bowden was strongest. He won his titles in 93 and 99.

Not to mention Bowden was in the midst of 13 straight top five finishes in that time.

Looks like the east will be down again this year.

Congrats, Mizzou.

You just provided nearly identical time periods and two entirely different descriptions of what was going on during them.

As for McElwain, he is talking about O-line and LB, anyone who follows Florida football knew this was a serious concern going into next season. Muschamp was a mess.

2013... SEC east

Yea. You're right. Mizzou and USCe being the only two teams with double digit wins sounds like a real meat grinder.

What arbitrary figures are you basing this nonsense on?

I can imagine that Boom recruits like a ten year old in NCAA on Xbox. He gets a ton of highly rated players. But it's 6 5* RBs, and forget to recruit any OTs. I can imagine that roster has a couple positions that have absolutely zero depth or only busts recruited.

Actually Spurrier and Florida is 14-1 against LSU - he was 3-0 vs LSU as qb at Florida with 2 in baton rouge (saw the second one in BR with my dad) the year he won the hiesman trophy. I think he is still running untouched!, people forget he was a scrambler.

7 scholly OL
2 scholly RB's
4 scholly LB's. (Morrison injured)

No big deal though, UF has 30 guys in the secondary. WM was amazing with roster management/balance.

Apologies to all if I wasn't very clear. I just meant that by the 2000s, Florida had overtaken FSU as the dominant program in the state.

Will edit.

Funny. I could say Jim McElwain's coaching is insufficient in a lot of areas too.

Bench McElroy's opinion is not representative of the Alabama fanbase. We are very proud of Coach Mac and loved him as a coach. I am extremely happy that he landed the Florida job and I think he'll take them back to the promise land within a few years.

Coach Mac is right and is just telling it how it is.

OL: biggest concern due to health and depth - can't do much in this league with a sketchy OL
RB: OK depth in the fall but no where near the top of the league - this is unacceptable at UF with all the HS talent in the state
WR: see RB
TE: LOLOLOL
QB: We are one injury away from seeing Treon back in the starting role and two injuries away from Sklyer freaking Morningnoodlearm

Defense will be stout but LB depth is an issue there.

Will failed miserably at offensive recruiting. It is what it is.

Sounds eerily familiar. But Florida fans won't take nearly as much shite as we have had to.
