at LSU the last 7 or so years? I was reading about LSU having the most D-lineman, 16 I think drafted in the last few years. Impressive and that's just the line. Les just can't develop a QB but I believe a...
1: Gus Malzahn would have won a NC for sure with the same roster
2: Mullins just because
Who am I leaving out?

We all know that Custer died at the battle of little big horn. What this presupposes is, maybe he didn't?

I'm sure Zach Mettenberger or Jarrett Lee would have fit right in with Malzahn's offense. Jordan Jefferson.....
Oh, and Merlins had the best front seven in the SEC, a veteran O-Line and a Heisman contender at QB and he tanked. So no.

Spurrier for sure. He's played us close a few times with less talent, on the road, and I would assume he could at least slightly improve the QB position
Plus I don't see him making near as many boneheaded calls, time management decisions, talented players disappearing from the offense, simple offensive play calls left out of the offense etc

Spurrier is 0-3 against Miles so stfu. I love Spurrier but he has made his fair share of dumbass calls
This thread is stupid. Arbitrary timeline is arbitrary

I'll throw in Hugh Freeza because he's basically a goofier, bigger front teeth version of Les Miles

Probably whomever could convince those "16 drafted in the last few years… and that's just the line" to stay the full course of their eligibility instead of bolting for the NFL.
The 2005 recruiting class, which became the 2008 football team, was shite. We signed 13 kids in that class, one of which was the #1 QB in the country who couldn't stay on the field long enough to be named the starter. From there, we slowly built a foundation every year, culminating in a SEC Championship.
2008 - 7-5
2009 - 9-3
2010 - 10-2
2011 - 12-0
2012 - 10-2
Then the 2013 NFL draft happened.
Barkevious Mingo (Jr.) - 1st Round
Eric Reid - (Jr.) 1st Round
Kevin Minter (Jr.) - 2nd Round
Bennie Logan - (Jr.) 3rd Round
Tyrann Mathieu (Jr.) - 3rd Round
Sam Montgomery (Jr.) - 3rd Round
Tharold Simon (Jr.) - 5th Round
Lavar Edwards (Sr.) - 5th Round
Despite the most efficient offense since 2001, LSU had nothing left on the defensive side of the ball, the front 7 in particular, and were gashed in several games, giving up 44 to Georgia, 38 to Alabama, and 27 to Ole Miss.
2013 - 10-2
Then the 2014 NFL Draft happened.
Odell Beckham Jr (Jr.) - 1st Round
Jeremy Hill - (So.) 2nd Round
Jarvis Landry - (Jr.) 2nd Round
Trai Turner - (So.) 3rd Round
Zach Mettenberger (Sr.) - 6th Round
Alfred Blue - (Sr.) 6th Round
James Wright - (Sr.) 6th Round
2014 - 8-4
This was our least experienced team overall since the team we fielded in 2008. We started two true freshmen RBs, two true freshmen WRs, a redshirt freshman WR, a redshirt sophomore WR, and a redshirt freshman TE. On defense, we weren't much better attempting to replace Ego Ferguson and Anthony Johnson in the middle of the DL (two more NFL underclassmen) and thanks to Johnny Chavis, didn't have a suitable heir for Kevin Minter.
It was a disaster.

Imagine if Spurrier had been hired by LSU in 2005.
