Randomly stumbled across this page the other day. I'd add a few other things to the list, but it's pretty solid for the most part. Cool page if you're into the great outdoors

Without opening the link, I'm guessing you can hear "Rocky Top" being played at every location at least once per hour.

Big South Fork should have definitely made the list along with Charlies bunyon and Gregory's bald, among others. But overall it's the first decent list I've seen put together

They missed a few......

Burgess Falls

Cane Creek Falls

Cummins Falls. Grew up 5 minutes away. Used to skip school and hangout there all day. Beautiful

Savage Gulf

Dale Hollow Lake

Watauga Lake

Reelfoot Lake

Solid list. However, Clingman's Dome should not be #1. The acid rain and persistent fog has ruined the trees and views from here. Not to mention that over look screams of tacky 1960's architecture.

Did you live in Pippin or Baxter? My parents and a few of my brothers just moved there from West Knoxville about 2 years ago. They're about 10 minutes from Cummins and love it. My old man and papaw almost got busted by the Forest ranger for picking ginseng there last summer

My parents live in the northernmost corner of Putnam County on the Jackson County line.

It only became a state park a couple years ago, so growing up we didn't have to deal with the state park bullshite.

I Agree about the architecture of the look out tower. It could use a major face lift from the Soviet Russia construction. I'd say it came in at number one more for being the highest peak in the state more than anything else.

The European and Asian beetles in conjunction with the acid rain that hits the entire range have devastated the firs and hemlocks. They've wiped out huge tracts of hemlock and firs in some parts. Clingmans dome being a good example.

When it's beautiful up there, it's gorgeous. Particularly facing North Carolina and Fontana Lake. But, there's to many tourists up there for me

It's tough living in the most beautiful state in the South. The pictures in that link really don't do those places justice.

I agree. East Tenn/West North Carolina is some of the best scenery is the South.

He lives in Alaska, I'm pretty sure. I'm sure its breathtaking...I lived in Montana for a year and while breathtaking, the winter was brutal. I'll keep my little Appalachians and mild winters.

I agree that Big South Fork should've made the list, but I'm glad it isn't as well known. Also really love Roan Mtn and that area up there...NE TN is beautiful.
