Will be fun to watch. This run you have been on this season has been amazing. Hope our pitching can keep us close.
Good luck.
Good luck.

How does your staff look this year? Have not followed y'all too much.

Our Staff is floating our success this year. Our weekend starters are doing the lords work while our offense has been pretty anemic.

They're for real. Mizzou is #9 nationally in team ERA. On the other hand, good guys are #1.
The bigger difference is in batting average. Mizzou is #223 at .250. A&M is #10 at .311. Still a lot of baseball to be played so who knows if that really means anything yet.
Easily the toughest weekend series the Aggies have faced yet, sez me.

Gonna be a hard fought series, I think. Good luck to both teams!

Congrats to Mizzou on a nice start as well.
I caught some of your game last weekend (vs SC?)
Your pitcher was sick--speed, movement, pitch count--total & complete package.
This weekend will be a goid litmus test for us.
Here's to a great showing by both teams.

Our staff is the best part of our team. I wouldn't say we have an ace or the best pitcher in the conference, but there's not a whole lot of difference from pitcher #1 through #6 as far as starters.
McClain is solid. Fastball sits in upper 80's, lower 90's. Keeps it down. Has solid change up and breaking ball to go with it. Sub 2.00 era. Not many walks.
Houck is a freshman we're excited about. Tall, lean right hander. Pitched 8 innings last Saturday against SC, gave up 8 hits, 2 runs, struck out like 8 and walked 0. Again, hardly walks anyone. Bright future for the kid. Fastball in low to mid 90's with good action. Solid slider. While many have drawn comparisons to former Tigers like Scherzer, really it's in numbers alone. Coach TJ compares him mechanically at least more to Aaron Nola (I think is his name) from LSU some years ago.
Fairbanks throws on Sundays and actually has better numbers than Houck, though not the potential upside of Houck. Going into the year, many thought he'd be our Friday starter but McClain showed up from JUCO and Houck grabbed the bull by the horns as a true freshman.
Closer Williams has been rock solid almost all year. Fastball sits in low to mid 90's. Confident curve ball.
2 other guys with high ceilings as for potential as starters but have some control issues. Rash was a former 2nd round draft pick, but TJ doesn't seem to trust him. He hasn't thrown in weeks now. Also, freshman De Oca sits at 98 on his fastball (big dude at 6/7" and like 260). But he almost killed a batter last week. Cost us the SC game when we were going for a sweep with a wild pitch. You will probably see him at some point on the weekend in relief.
ETA - That 6th starter is John Miles, who was our Saturday starter last year but has been passed by the others and the new comers.

This is a huge difference and it will be for us all year. Our offense has been anemic since joining the SEC. It's received a punch from 2 freshmen, catcher Bond and OF/DH Harris, who lead us in most offensive categories. Their approach does seem to be infecting others as of late so we'll see.
While yes, the pitching is what has been carrying the load for us, two other things have helped.
First, we've improved tremendously in the field. We're not giving extra outs every inning like last year. In fact, the freshman Harris made SC with one of his catches the other night.
Second, while not great bats, they are a bit more timely than years past. They find ways to take advantage of a walk or an error and score a run or two on 1 hit.
Your pitchers, catcher, 3rd and 1st have to be able to field their positions. We have several players that aren't afraid to lay one down for a hit.
Looking forward to the weekend series. Just hoping we can keep it close and maybe, just maybe, steal one. Good luck to you guys.

Well you guys are guaranteed a win Saturday since I'll actually be at the game.

Thanks for the rundown. I watched about half the USC series and was very impressed. You guys are definitely the surprise team of the SEC, maybe the NCAA.
I'll be happy with 2-1. Good luck to you.
