Jancek has been great. One of the better coaches we have along with Martinez.

Agreed. Both have been surprising very good hires.

Thorough!?! Seriously?

I was in Hattiesburg when Stumpy was hired. Everyone there knew their program would seen be in trouble... Even knew the players inVOLved.

I heard from a 78 year old woman that if UT knew what they were getting they never would have hired him.

How is it that elderly ladies knew but somehow UT's "vetting" process somehow overlooked this?

Funniest part is that the USM players involved weren't even good.

Tennessee searching for a coach works out about as good as Portland drafting a player #1.

You need to stick to hearsay at the GoalPost.

Would UT take a run at Marshall....or is the salary on the high side? He is probably the hottest name going at the moment.

Hattiesberg is a small place when it comes to gossip (rumors/info spread) whereas I doubt Dave Hart went around asking people on the ground there outside of the university. He talked to their admins via phone and then he checked the NCAA clearinghouse for investigations or whatever it's called for any pending NCAA issues. That IS pretty standard procedure BUT knowing Tyndall had problems in the past Hart should've taken more time than those two formal steps.

They were right. They obviously knew more than Hart.

BTW, I'm not trolling. I think it's relevant to the discussion that I did hear numerous people who are anything but insiders predict that Tyndall would be one and done at UTUT - right on down to knowing what transpired and who was involved.

My point is that Hart is full of it with his claims to having been thorough in vetting Tyndall.

My phone is acting kinda strange. It auto-capitalized the Vol in my previous post. When I delete, it thinks the point at which I resume typing is a new word, even if not preceded by a space.

If UT hoops has "history" I must have missed it. Exactly what is the UT basketball "history" you guys are so fond of?

ESPN slammed them pretty good on SC earlier live, Goodman also said UT isn't a very good job and they'll have to settle for another Tyndall type name to take the job.

Michael White again and Richard Pitino were his top 2 names, rofl if they hire that Pitino reject that's about to get ran out of Minnysoda.

They sent feelers out last time and Marshall has flirted with us every time the job has come open even before he was at Wichita St. Last time I do think money was an issue Dave Hart is CHEAP. Now that he's bought on the cheap and gotten burned he may change his mind but I doubt it.

We won't get anyone splashy, imo.

So does Tennessee owe him any money, since they fired him before any sanctions officially came?

No. Dave Hart was smart enough to write NCAA issues into the contract nullifying any buyout but he not smart enough to know this was coming. Or so he says...

Can't see how they wouldn't owe him something. What coach would agree to a contract with no guarantees?

You guys deserve a better AD than this clown. He is basically saying that he has no responsibilities whatsoever when it comes to making bad decisions. I am sure he will take all the credit for the good ones though, right?

Time to cut bait with that jackass. Nothing worse that a leader who refuses to take any responsibility. We've had a couple like that.

Dave Hart put a clause in the contract that we don't owe any buyout if DT was fired over certain NCAA issues.
