When there is already a thread on their board discussing the topic that has nothing to do with Auburn? Sure, why not?

Serious question for the Alabama people: why is Paul Bryant Jr on the U of A BOT at all? I would understand his involvement with the athletic department, but the BOT is primarily tasked with the actual university and its functions, yes? Having an athletics-first individual as the President of the BOT seems like a pretty clear case of the tail wagging the dog, no?

I fail to see why this is "news" - isn't this how most University Systems operate?

And who the hell is calling UA a "family"?

Well every BOT has someone who is sitting at the top. As far as Junior being crooked, any link to this. Lowder was indeed and charges brought against him. Haven't seen anybody doing that with Junior and until then....Besides, any rich man usually has some skeletons. Any of them.

Posts like this prove what I have been saying. Auburnites and people like Brando and Scarbinsky will tell u this is not an Alabama thing but a do the right thing. THats not entirely true. There are some people that are for anything Bama is against, them included. Why do they care anyway. Where was Brando when Pacific dropped football? How about Wichita State? Those programs were much more viable than UAB.
These people mentioned will tell u they have nothing against Bama but in reality its a chance to take a swing at Bama and nothing else.

The fact that nobody at Alabama speaks out agains him really shows how corrupt the entire school is

Why would we?

-Enrollment is up
-Out-of-state enrollment is up
-Academics is up
-Athletics is up
-We are building new buildings at record pace

The past decade has been one of the best in the University's history. Whatever Paul Jr is doing I say keep doing it.

Link to Lowder ever having any criminal charges brought against him? Baby bear has business partners that have been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for insurance fraud and other crimes. A lot of people think he only avoided similar charges because of his last name

Try doing that as a Bama fan on an Auburn board and see what happens.
Auburn fans should be familiar with this type of bank/BOT relationship. Didn't Auburn have that a few years back, until the bank closed.

Lowder retired 4 months before his bank folded and had to be taken over.. 3 of his executives at Colonial Bank ended up in jail..

I haven't been studying this UAB thing very closely. What exactly is the perceived problem? On the surface, it looks like a decision was made based on sound financial reasoning.

Auburn people criticized Lowder for years and he eventually either resigned or was removed from the Auburn board.

OTOH, you hear absolutely nothing negative about baby bear from anyone at bama and he is still very much on their board

Kind of illustrates the differences between the schools. One of them is happy to go along with any amount of corruption and one of them is not

PBJr isn't an "athletics first" individual, he is a buisness man first and foremost, a successful buisnessman and always has been.

Lowder was criticized because Auburn fans felt like his meddling was a reason Auburn's athletic department was in shambles and the University's accreditation was about to be snatched from it.

No reason for Bama fans to criticize "baby bear".

I don't know anything about criminal charges against Bobby Lowder or Paul Bryant, Jr.

He is also an Alabama alumni. I believe he donates money to the University, not just athletics.

Ironically enough, Auburn University has been sanctioned more than any other University in the entire South Eastern Conference and I believe until very recently was ranked behind only SMU as the most sanctioned university in NCAA history.

So, there's that for corruption.

Also, remember those Sociology degrees?

LINK

quote:

Eighteen members of the 2004 Auburn football team, which went undefeated and finished No. 2 in the nation, took a combined 97 hours of the courses during their careers. The offerings resemble independent study and include core subjects like statistics, theory and methods, which normally require class instruction.

The professor for those players and many other athletes was Thomas Petee, the sociology department’s highest-ranking member. The star running back Carnell (Cadillac) Williams, now playing in the National Football League, said the only two classes he took during the spring semester of his senior year were one-on-one courses with Professor Petee.

At one point, Professor Petee was carrying the workload of more than three and a half professors, an academic schedule that his colleagues said no one could legitimately handle.
