Do you think it's being done to drive traffic to their app or what?

It's pretty damn stupid to put your hottest / only commodity on the worst platform you have.

I'd rather take a good shite than watch a Spring Game

Much like pre-season NFL games

Probably. They put UK's Bahama trip games over the summer exclusively on the SEC Network in the first few days it started.

People will still watch them delayed though (they're just not showing them live on the TV) if they're not in attendance themselves. And my guess is there will be conference baseball games on the network too (which gets good viewership in the SEC).

CHARLOTTE -- Tennessee's Orange & White Game will be carried live on the SEC Network Alternate Channel and SEC Network + on April 25 at 4 p.m. The game will also be available on a replay on Sunday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m., on the SEC Network.

The crew of Joe Tessitore, Brock Huard and Maria Taylor will be in Knoxville to call the action.

Additionally as part of spring practice, the SEC Network's Peter Burns will be in Knoxville on April 13 for coverage on SEC Now.

Looks good for Tennessee. Looks like your article is wrong

Either way, you are presumably a subscriber. Why force a delay if the customer doesn't want to stream it?

Some of those games will be broadcast very late at night. Nobody is staying up until midnight on a weeknight to a watch a tape delay broadcast of a spring football game. Frick ESPN

From what I'm reading, it looks like the coverage is gonna be great. Reporters at each school with special coverage leading up to the games. Coverage on SEC now, live game broadcasts and reruns.

Looks great to me

Saturday down south, sucking as usual, seems to have gotten their wires crossed.

I do think though, that with the network the conference should mandate the spring game times so that all can be shown live.

But hey, my school is getting a live broadcast so I'm can't complain much.

I agree. Sounds like the problem was multiple schools having their games at the same time.

And no doubt. Live boyz club

I think the larger issue is what schools do you show live and what schools do you show delayed? As mentioned, you're going to have several games on at the same time.

And then you're in the thick of the conference baseball season with multiple nationally ranked teams.

It makes complete sense from their POV. They are forcing people to use the app to skyrocket install numbers and increase ad revenue on a very important platform going forward. Maybe some people will continue to use it for other content after the Spring game, which is a double win for ESPN.

But they re already paid subscribers. Yes, they increase traffic to one but they do so by simply changing the flow of traffic, so to speak.

Whatever ad revenue they generate is deducted from what they had on the television platform.
