With KA already on the hot seat he might have a problem getting a good coach for the position. They might be here less than a year if KA gets the ax next year. I don't think KA should have been fired this year but another year anything like this past year and he is gone.

Which also makes it harder to recruit.
Alden did no favors to Kim by tossing him into this situation. He really would have been better off (and the program would have too, like it or not) extending Haith. And I hated the last couple of years of Haithball.

I think Alden did him a favor by giving him the job. Alden didn't make the situation, he made a hire with situations he was given.
The program would probably be better off if Haith were here under an extension, that is true. Hated Haith as an in-game manager, but the dude had given us winning seasons.
The current state will make it very difficult to bring in a quality guy.

AAU is most of the time based around individual play and development. I'm not a fan because it is typically "every man for himself" getting noticed.
I'm am not a fan either. I was just acknowledging its role. I'm not a fan of any club sports where the emphasis is on making money instead of teaching/developing.

Probably a terrible comparison but.....I'd take a John Stockton to a Carmelo Anthony 10 times out of 10.
Stockton is a personal hero. Absolutely the best pure point guard to ever play. (I consider Magic something of a combo guard). Always focused on fundamentals and the team score.
Carmelo hasn't been on winning teams in the NBA, and doesn't seem too worried about it. He may drop 50, but in a loss. I think he is the premier example of what AAU does.
Basketball needs more John Stockton's and less Carmelo Anthony's

I'm going to stick up for Melo. He singlehandedly lead Syracuse to the NCAA championship as a freshman and has had a phenomenal career as a pro. When he was on the USA team in the Olympics, he demonstrated exactly how good he was.
I get what you're saying about AAU ball, but knocking Melo isn't a great example of AAU ball.

I felt like it was a pretty awesome example. He is an amazing scorer. He was one of the best offensive college players ever. He won a national championship with his offense.
But don't pretend like he plays defense, or is willing to whatever it takes to win. He is lazy on the defensive end.
Carmelo plays horrible defense
Melo's great defense

Eh. If a guy can get me to an NCAA championship game and he wants to take some plays off on defense, maybe I let him.
The object is to win games. Not to follow some sort of purists' idea of basketball for the sake of the idea. I feel that our fans have had such a negative reaction to Quin-Anderson-Haith's "non-traditional" basketball that they're willing to sacrifice wins for an idea of what basketball should be.

Mcnamara was a big part of that team as well. I remember watching them in the MAUI invitational and thinking damn this team is good. I think they were both Freshman?

McNamara was great shooter and perimeter defender. Hakeem Warrick was a defensive force...there were more pieces to that team than just Melo.

Are you sure?
I thought it was just Melo going one on five.

Yeah, that team was pretty loaded. I mean Melo definitely put on a clinic on a nightly basis, but he definitely had some very solid pieces around him.
Posted on 3/31/15 at 4:25 pm to the808bass
Well you did insinuate that he won it on his own and that's not really the case. They actually had a pretty stacked team.
Posted on 3/31/15 at 6:14 pm to seaniec04
Stacked as in good role players.
That team was a one man show on offense.

Can we talk about who his replacement could be instead of former Syracuse basketball players?
Posted on 4/1/15 at 3:26 pm to the808bass
Agreed. Hire Ccorey Tate and hire him now.

I still think it turns out to be someone we wouldn't expect...a la Fulford

I'll take Tatum or Porters dads if they can convince their kids to come..... I'm on the Tate bandwagon.
