Bama's Bill Battle holding the AD job til Saban retires and takes over?

What are the chances that Bama hired Battle as an "interim" ad and his job is basically to hold things down til Saban retires in 4 or 5 years and becomes AD?
I think it's pretty likely, especially after hearing Saban's speech in his PC the other day about how he wants all the sports teams at Bama to be good.

Battle is a transition, but Saban is going to the lake and not down the hall of the athletic complex.

I can see Saban on ESPN as an analyst. If he were an AD he'd fire half the coaches

Good, Probably half of them need firing.

Of course we do, but Alabama is a dissapointing 13-10 and there's a basketball coaching search on. Plus spring practice. And it doesn't help that Alabama baseball is playing in Hoover while The Joe is renovated.

You think Saban will hang around Tuscaloosa once the huge paychecks stop?
Hint: Hired gun....Nick doesn't love you. He loves the paychecks.

Saban will never be an athletic director. He hates playing politics

I don't see that at all. I would be very surprised if Saban took an administrative position like that.

I don't want Saban to be AD. He probably has a good somewhat eye for coaching talent, maybe, but there is a whole lot more involved and it would be a bit of a shot in the dark.

I would love for that to happen...but I seriously seriously doubt it.

saban wont be our ad. he would be best as a tv analyst once he retires from coaching, hes absolutely great at that. I would hope we could finally get ozzie newsome to come home and be AD (although i dont know if he would care to have to deal with all the crap title 9 sports, but that's what an assistant ad is for)

Ozzie is much more qualified to be the next AD than Saban is. He should be the first choice to succeed Battle.

Ozzie is who I thought we were hoping to hold out for, not Saban.

I can't believe that anyone thinks Saban will want to be an AD.

Then why did he try to get us to fire Miles and take him back when he had decided to come back to college but hadn't taken the Bama job?
