We're cautiously optimistic, sure. LSU makes a lot more sense than State

if howland doesnt run into an awesome gator team in 06 and 07 he prabably has a ring or 2

that was a special group so its kinda hard for me to knock him plus he made to three final 4's and a title game thats not too bad

Once again, in '08 Howland had Westbrook, Love, Mbah a Moute, Collison and Shipp on it...couldn't win a championship.

Howland was notorious for assembling a ton of talent then not being able to get over the top. Talent he will simply never be able to attract to Starkville, MS.

your coach is awful tho final 4 is a bit of a stretch i know you didnt have pg's this yr but i thought the team should of done alot better i expect newman to jump onboard with howland when its all said and done he's just got an awesome list of nba talent few coaches can match and westbrook winning mvp will help more then anything

I don't think its a bit of a stretch. Jones started on and coached a final four team for Dale brown. He knows what it takes, and it's not a new concept to him. A concept completely oblivious and will stay oblivious to Starkville.

You LSU fans seem nervous about not getting Malik.

It's basketball recruiting. Deals can be made quickly so things can change on a whim.

We still like our chances, but it's not like he's a lock

How Bundy?

Our season doesn't deprnd on malik. We return all our guards. We just don't have a sure fire PG to lead the team. There seems to be some poor info out that LSU is losing a lot of talent.

Atm all we lose is Martin and Odo(who? exactly) mickey is waiting to see what scouts say. Right now I doubt the news would push him to enter the draft as he's lokely not to get drafted"

Not one LSU fan is worried if we don't land Malik. We have peices in place, Malik would be icing on the cake and give use a composite #1 ranked class.

Basically we want him very, very badly, but LSU will be a tournament team without him. State is just stronger NIT candidate with Newman.

The MSU moderator saying it's strictly an MSU-Kentucky battle is naive, as I doubt he just eliminated LSU and Kansas when Howland was hired

And Patterson?

Primary recruiters were Johnny Jones and David Patrick. He was at the same school as Simmons...

And for the record, I'm not confident about LSU getting Newman. Think LSU has a better shot than MSU though.

From the ATL Celtics all LSU got was Delwan Grahm and Dennis Harris. AAU isn't even close to the camp circuit nowadays.

That was the Trent Johnson era.

That's what I'm saying. He didn't land or assist in landing anyone. The AAU celtics plays we got were when he was at UCLA. Where not one ATL kid went.

Since you continue to post this on about three or four different boards, I will quote the exact post you are referencing.

Kentucky still very much in the picture and may be an MSU-UK battle.

That neither says "strickly", nor does it rule out LSU or Kansas. You read what you want to read so that you can discredit what someone says because it is not what you want to read.

NC State and Ole Miss were never really a threat to land Newman's signature in the first place. Kansas always has a shot at anyone in the country but I think they are on the outside looking in here.

Mississippi State, LSU, and Kentucky are all viable options for landing Malik Newman. If you want to discredit any of those three, be my guest, but IMO it would be wrong to do so.

I think most fans are excited about Ben Simmons and Antonio Blakeney.

But also I doubt Malik wants to play on an NIT at best team
NIT isn't the limit with Malik and Kasongo.

That won't happen with Martin and Mitchell (assuming) leaving.

You don't even know their names. How can you even comment on LSU's chances.

Mickey hasnt even said he's officially leaving. The draft grade he gets back likely won't push him to the draft. It depends all on what the scouts say he needs to build on and wether or not he feels he can work on it in a developmental league or a UFA.

Nah, I'm pretty sure that's you. While the AAU circuit used to be the thing, shoe company camp circuits have knocked it down to 3rd tier at best. That's not an exaggeration.

LSU, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Florida will all make the tournament. that's 4 bids right there

-Vanderbilt and A&M both get everyone back with good (a&M elite) recruiting classes). there's 1-2 bids...highly likely 2 bids there.

-Ole Miss and UGA have a good nucleus of players coming back and always maximize their talent. There's a bid there

-Auburn and South Carolina were both young with top 25 classes coming in. Overall more talent or at worst equal to State.

-Tennessee is well-coached and will bite some teams in the arse. Missou is a wildcard.

Mississippi state is not going to the ncaa tournament

he didn't say that verbatim, but he implied that it's an MSU-Kentucky race, which is bullshite

NC State maybe, but Kennedy has recruited Newman since the 7th grade. He's done a good job at Ole Miss and has a new arena on the way. Ole Miss is a threat.

I'm not discrediting anyone. I said on the OM board I don't think he's eliminated anyone. But to say State and Kentucky are the two leaders for Newman doesn't match everything that's been said prior to Howland. Just sounds like he's baiting for more memberships, which is common practice in that field of work
