I would love to see this guy on the field as a regular piece of our defense. What is the scoop on him and will he see more playing time as a staple on the defensive side of the ball?

And can't stay healthy. Those kill shots he puts on people hurt him just as much as the other guy.

I hate to say it, but I get the impression that the guy just isn't smart enough to play in a college/pro scheme. I mean he is heading into his junior season, if he doesn't know how to tackle properly and know his assignments by now it doesn't give me much hope that he will ever be more than a special teams player.

Sort of reminds me a little of Jerrell Harris, another 5-star backer we signed early in the Saban era. Dude had sick physical talent, but wasn't very bright. He finally locked down a starting spot his senior year but never became a real force as he just could never put it together. Hope Foster proves me wrong, because physically he is a monster--but that's only half the equation. I see Ragland and Hamilton locking down the middle with Lee coming off the bench first, and Foster after that.

In his defense, Harris had some very clutch plays his Senior season.

He did, but it took him 5 years to get there. And even then his production never matched his physical potential. Dude could run sideline to sideline with the best of them, just never really clicked for him. Afraid Foster is on the same path...unless he plays in a really dumbed down scheme where he can just play on instinct, not sure he can cut it. Again, hope he proves me dead wrong and becomes an All-American backer.

Harris's problem was that he just wasn't very physical, or so I heard multiple times from people in the program.

Or maybe Ragland 2.0? We shall see.

Way too early to be making judgements on this guy. Let's see how it goes this season. Even if he doesn't start he should get plenty of playing time in the middle. IF he's got the playbook down and keeps his head up.

I have always liked the idea of putting him at OLB and telling him to decapitate the QB on every play.

I don't know what's warranted all this negativity about him this early. He hasn't really done anything to prove or disprove his ability besides ripping the heads off some kick returners. (Incorrectly, but good hits nonetheless)

He's one of the most exciting players I've seen in awhile when he plays on special teams. I would love to see him doing that stuff beyond that role.

But he's also pretty scary at the same time because of his tackling form and injury history. I just hope he stays healthy and doesn't get too many targeting penalties.

Any negativity beyond that I have no clue what the reason for it could be.
