It'd be a great pickup if true. I bet he'd hire Mccray for recruiting ties in the Southeast.

Why have other major schools steered away from hiring him? Does he have Pearl like problems in his past or is there some other reason?

That's a really good question to be honest. He put LSU in a somewhat good position to land some 2016 guys in atlanta, but he didn't make an immediate impact.
Jones hired Musselman before anyone could really be frustrated at Mccray leaving, so my best guess is that Jones knew Musselman was looking to come aboard. It was a no-brainer given LSU's needs. LSU didn't need help with AAU pipelines, but more x's and o's on the bench.

State fans, you're so illinformed on McCray. He was at LSU 6 months. Kirby, who is now at Memphis, is who originally led recruiting Newman. Now it's all the current staff. IDk where you're getting that info, but it's piss poor.

You'd think Robert Kirby would be State's first phone call for an assistant. He did a good job with LSU's bigs and has a ton of Mississippi ties. It is pretty interesting that nobody picked up McCray when he left LSU

I know his style of basketball is frustrating to watch, but State fans will be happy to see any product on the court other than what Ray has brought.
