He'd be a very good hire. It looks like he's just waiting for an offer from a decent job.

Can Yall just hire some no name assistant like you have done with every hire lately in the big 3 ? Just get it over with. We all know it's coming.

Same here. It's ironic that the AD wouldn't even consider Howland because he is too "toxic" yet look at the mess Tyndall is dealing with.

Would be a great hire by State if it happens.

Hart's days are numbered if Tyndall doesn't work out.

That is why he was at NBC sports he is training him self. That is why Bruce was at ESPN. Watching all those games gives you some ideas. He never played NCAA suspended shabazz.

The man clearly knows how to coach and recruit. However, the Ben Howland of 2008 is not the Ben Howland of 2015. Everyone talks about the 3 final fours, but forgets the way he got fired at UCLA. It will be hard to recruit with this story hanging over your back:

quote:

In February 2012, a Sports Illustrated article portrayed UCLA player Reeves Nelson as a bully on and off the court, who at times intentionally tried to injure his teammates. The article stated that Howland looked the other way and did not discipline Nelson for over two years. Both UCLA and Howland disputed the story, some as untrue and others as beyond the knowledge of the program. From 2008—the Bruins last Final Four appearance—through 2012, at least 11 players left the UCLA program, including Nelson who was in fact suspended twice and dismissed in December 2011. After 2008, UCLA did not advance past the first weekend of the NCAA tourney, and did not qualify for the tournament in 2010 and 2012.
On March 25, 2013, Howland was fired by UCLA.

It didn't hurt him as he landed a top class that he left Alford with or how he won the PAC 12 his final year. I'd imagine he'll do what he did at UCLA and bring in an AAU coach as an assistant to ensure he has a pipeline to good players on top of just being a good recruiter.
