You don't think Bruce was a catalyst... I thought he would get atleast 1 more year

Most people were surprised he wasn't fired last year.

...not directly.

I do think the fact Bruce is at Auburn played a role in the decision to fire him. Now let's see if it also plays a role in who they hire next. This is a moment when we'll see how serious Bama is about basketball.

As a side note, it's funny how similar this situation is to our football programs in 2008, but with the program's swapped.

Grant sucked on his own. But the looming threat of what Pearl could build at Auburn expedited the process.

Many were also stating they wouldn't be surprised if he coached next year (2015-16 season).

I definitely agree with that... This next hire will be crucial to where badketball stands for Bama (especially with UAB dancing)

Because they thought the AD was apathetic.

Doubt it. If Alabama is just worried about being the best basketball team in the state they have bigger problems

Agree. It's the situation where Bama realizes Auburn is trending up fast in the sport, therefore decisive moves must be made on their end to keep up.

You could say that to some extent with pearls little momentum at the end of the season...but we wouldnt be talking about this if he remotely did his job a little better. so it falls on him.

why? Although we improved marginally from last year it has been 6 years...and we lose 2 of our energy guys in Randolph & Cooper. why in your mind would you say Alabama would be better next season? Although we bring in some talent it's not even a top 25 class

how can you credit a guy for getting a coach fired when lost to that coach twice?

not beating Wichita State got Grant fired, hell, Billy Donovan got Grand fired 1000 times more than Pearl

I was surprised to see Grant fired. I completely understand the move, but there seemed to be some momentum with the talk he was going to stay another year.

Apparently Bama had one of its better players injured before the season started, so Grant might've had a legit excuse...and he beat the instate rival twice.
