Answered my own question. First scrimmage is April 4. Kind of sucks having practices closed to the media. All you hear is about guys getting hurt.

It really does. But I also get why they close it up. I think Scherer or Brothers or whoever already got an earful for letting too much out of the bag regarding the shift to the 3-4.

Good freaking lord. I really hope we don't find out bad stuff down the road. If Ivey is doing all of that legit, it's really pretty amazing.

@DavidCMorrison: Corner John Gibson is back at practice today.

Good news. I was beginning to worry about that.

They want people to show up for the Black n Gold game but they do such a piss poor job of developing interest in the spring that they can have a scrimmage and no one even knows it.

btw - the video high lights were completely uninspiring, though it may well have been because of the camera angles.

It was just a "half" scrimmage, whatever that means. The full scrimmages have all been announced. I also believe those are open to the media so hopefully we will get some better video.

Thanks for that. Sucks that there is next to no news during spring practices. It's a great opportunity to market, hype, keep the positive mojo rolling in the offseason. Instead of letting everything die out until fall.

Is there any word at all about who has impressed? Who hasn't? Have they even had any practices? I think they had a half scrimmage. Have they had any full scrimmages?

First scrimmage is April 2. That will be the first real public look for the team.
Team is off on spring break this week, only had 4-5 practices at this point. The only thing I have really heard is who is healthy vs. not heathy.

I'm embarrassed to say that I miss Matter's reports on the stretching lines, since that's all he got to see, but gave some idea on changes to the depth chart.

I can report that Mauk got bacon on his Subway sandwich today & that the girl that was with him tried to climb in someone else's truck. Guess they all look alike to her.

So walk on Eric Laurent is working with the 1's in the slot. Great.

Tommy Saunders was a walk-on. Just saying. This might not necessarily be a bad thing. Let's see what he can do.

You have no idea how close we were to Laurent playing QB not last season but the one before. I've met his mom a few times and I actually recall bumping into her at the gas station as they were on their way to COMO for a game. She was all excited and I asked her what was up. She said that Eric was #2 behind Mauk that weekend. Franklin was hurt. Berk got injured in practice. And they weren't planning on burning Printz' redshirt. Had Mauk gone down, they would have gone with a redshirt freshman walkon. Blew my mind.

Anyways, he must a pretty good athlete, much like Moe was. I was just hoping that the scholarship WR's were more talented is all.

Happened early enough that he should be back healthy in time for the season. Definitely by conference play.
