The Mike we have right now is massive, the biggest we have ever had.

If he doesn't want to get in, he is not going in .

The new Tiger is Rosco. They named him Mike when they brought him to LSU but he has refused to accept his new role or his new name. Rosco is not a team player.

Also, if they did have him in the stadium he would want to leave in the third quarter. LOL

November 28, 1981. About 1:00am It seems some pranksters had cut the chain to the outer door and the lock to the inner door, releasing the dangerous cat.

Curiously, that same night, down in New Orleans, Tulane beat LSU 48-7. Tulane students probably came up to BR after the game for some good old-fashioned fun. That was back when LSU had a REAL rival, not this pussy-assed shite they call rivalries these days, fricking letting a 450 pound cat outta the bag is bad arse.

When I was a student in the 80s some guy managed to get in between the inner and outer fence of Mike's cage and claimed he had a bomb. After he was apprehended, the paper sack he was holding turned out to contain a sandwich.

He's a Siberian tiger which are bigger than Bengal tigers. His cage is big enough to be comfortable for a Bengal tiger which we normally have but not a Siberian tiger.

Just to clarify: "Cage" meaning the mobile cage pulled by the pickup around Tiger Stadium sidelines, not the 15,000 s.f. habitat bachelor pad where he resides

Just curious, was there any reason to switch to a Siberian tiger?

Good question. I think they looked for a suitable Bengal tiger that could have been donated or sold to LSU, but Great Cats of Indiana Habitat owner/managers (at the time) had Roscoe as their actual house pet and he was getting too big, so they had to put him in with the others.
That's why he was more suitable because he had been around humans and had been used to roaming around.
Actually Roscoe (Mike VI) is a mix of a half Bengal Tiger, half Siberian.

The previous Mikes were on campus from birth. So the previous Mikes were use to being around people, noise, crowds, etc. I can remember being at a basketball game as a kid and they introduced the new Mike and let the cub run around on the basketball court.

The new Mike was a donation from a shelter and there is little to no history on how he was treated before. Before every game they back the trailer up to the cage and it is Mikes choice to go in or not. The previous tigers were more willing to get in because they had been acclimated to it since birth, and even then they still decided not to get in once or twice a year. The new Mike supposedly hates the trailer and the noise of the crowds and refuses to get in.

He's cool as frick. But I bet if we Aggies offered him more steak and a better habitat he'd move to A&M to be with Chavis
