Yup... If you just go by top stats, Heisman Trophies & Nattys at each position the way these seem to be ranked it's better to have 3 of the top 10 than 9 outta 11-20... But you gotta have some kinda criteria for your list when you compile it and pretty much any way you try to quantify it, it leaves something to be desired...

And you'd say wrong. Not that your backs weren't good. However, the OP failed to mention Dalton Hilliard who along with Alexander and Faulk are all in the top 7 rushers in SEC history to form a formidable Mt. Rushmore of LSU backs with the legendary Billy Cannon. No other school has more than 1 guy in the top 7. Throw in a few dozen other LSU backs who made it to the NFL and I don't see another school who's better. I'd say the top 4 are all on firm footing at any rate.

A lot of that has to do with that fact that we had a number of greats playing at the same time. When you have guys like Anthony, Hilliard and Green all playing together they aren't going to rack up receptions and yardage like a single receiver will somewhere else.

Auburn has had some pretty great linebackers as well. Karlos Dansby, Gregg Carr, Takeo Spikes, Aundray Bruce, Dontarious Thomas, Travis Williams. Just to name a few

I would have to put Leonard Marshall on the DL for LSU. Marshall was as dominant as they come. While Spears was good, Marshall was on a whole other level.

Eta: Claim - I only looked at the top 4-5 players per position to decide the place of each team. For example, Bama's top 8 running backs, or Florida's top 8 receivers are better than LSU's top 8 running backs, or Vandy's top 8 receivers. I wanted to only use the very best of the elite players though.

This was just based on college which is why Peters wasn't on the list. Didn't he play TE in college? And RB was an incredibly tough choice. Leaving off any team with McFadden was hard, but I thought the top 3-4 of the other schools I listed was slightly better. Definitely debatable though, like almost everything on the list is.
