well probably, things change, rules change- are you advocating the rules should be the same as they were in the 50's and never change?

Meh, he's doing the same thing Bert/Saban does. They each want rules that benefit their style and each thinks they are right. There's a rule in place already, enforce it.

I've always been a fan of pitching.

that being said a grounder to first isn't anywhere near as exiting as a RB getting blown up in the backfield.

I don't get people who only want to see touchdowns. I want to see contact, and players getting lit up. (and yes enough LSU touchdowns to win)

Yes, that's exactly what I'm advocating.

Isn't the 1yard rule consistent with the pro rule?

Yes. Good change.

I believe if you are engaged with a defender within 3 yards, then the new rule doesn't apply.

Ah, gotcha.

This applies to OL who are not engaged with a defender past 1 yard.

Still seems like it would make roll-outs tough.

Anything that increases offensive penalties would seem to reduce scoring. That being said, I thought there were some thoughts to add another official to help with "so much going on" during the game. It seems like the current rule could be better called with the help of an additional official.

Not really a big deal, he has an opinion, and shockingly it corresponds with what is best for his team. At least he is not trying to say it will hurt player safety or anything.

Hypocrite Arky and Bammers trying to enforce another rule behind other coaches back. Saban is nothing more than a whiney b!tch, add fat Bert to that to.

Gus will always run a track meet. he'll evolve. The NFL works just fine with the 1 yard rule.

I don't think it will make any difference. Hyperbole by Gus on this one. Rule change is much ado about nothing.

It's a good first step. They still need to strictly enforce holding calls and get rid of the bullshite targeting rule for scores to truly return to normal.

The new rule will be known as the Malzahn Rule, because he abused the 3 yd rule he now gets to play with a 1 yd rule. Ka is bitch.
