Actually its the other way. We need this lawsuit to get nasty so we have a rivalry for rivalry weekend that doesn't require us winning anything.

A&M had Chavis sign a contract stating that A&M would pay buyout fees, therefore A&M owes LSU $400k.
So if they "settle" and Chavis or A&M pays LSU $100,000, according to A&M fans, they would still owe LSU $300,000..even after they settled..
Am I doing this right?

The way I see it LSU owes A&M $400,000. They did LSU a favor and helped them get rid of a coach who is famous for 3rd and long. Lsu wanted him gone so pay up, it's the right thing to do...

Don't blame LSU for your administration settling for 100K. Those lazy fricks should've flown their arse to Louisiana if they wanted the other 400K.

Except LSU doesn't. Try to keep up.

You laugh but there is some truth in that.
If we had beaten LSU during our SEC run, and Bama not at all, then maybe it is Kirby Smart on our sidelines next year.

1) if they did then it would have gone to court and A&M would have collected.
2) A&M owes LSU for supporting their entry into the SEC and behaving like a welcoming institution. Signing on for a rivalry game to replace Texas is the second obvious demonstration of this (the first being A&M's entry)
3) A&M can't have it both ways on Chavis. When he was recruiting for them in January that's either a violation (since he's not their employee) or an early departure (so they should pay the 400k).
IDC which of the options they choose from #3 but it has to be one of the two.

Why didn't A&M pursue it?
To us $400,000 is chump change. I guess to LSU, it's the state budget.
Since they decided to go after, we will play too.

Nah, we'll take the upgrade AND the 400 large.
It's just business.

You can't "buy" a win against poor LSU

aTm is willing to go to court over it. So, apparently it isn't "Chump Change', now is it?

The NCAA doesn't have the same standard as a court. A court can rule that Chavis owes nothing AND the NCAA can do jack crap.
The NCAA doesn't have the power of subpoena. If this case doesn't put things into public record that prove the violation (yes more than a few pictures and secondhand recruit's claims) then they can't do anything.
Something tells me if LSU unearths some smoking gun we will settle the next day. The only way we would go down this path is if we feel we are most likely in the right.

Don't speak so soon. Unless you believe that dominance of LSU over A&M is so solid it cannot be jinxed.
Heck just the odds say we were going to beat you eventually. Given how much yall teed up the ball I think if God has a sense of humor it will be this season.

I mean this is clearly going to settle IMO. I don't think aTm or Chavis have anything to gain by letting it go to court, as it seems to me that LSU has enough on Chavis that we probably don't know about.

I think if it was going to it would have. I would also think if the LSU AD had some Chavis dirt that would be out in the open via a back channel by now.
Honestly I think A&M/Chavis wins this case. And that isn't Aggie delusion talking, just the way the situation has set up.

Chaggies owe LSU $400K PLUS other damages. Isn't that what the law suit states?
