Do you like the move towards "Auburn men" coaching the team?

Dameyune Craig (former player)
Travaris Robinson (former player)
Rodney Garner (former player)
Gus Malzahn (former offensive coordinator)
Rhett Lashlee (former graduate assistant)
Will Muschamp (former defensive coordinator)
All of the following coaches either played at Auburn or coached at Auburn within some capacity in the past before being named onto the coaching staff right now.
Off-season thead, DWI.

I think they are more loyal. I also think it's easier selling a place you have some attachment to. But in the end I want the best coaches, despite their background.

I can't imagine T-Rob and Dameyune giving impassioned speeches to recruits about what it means to be an "Auburn man" hurts in any way, shape, form, or fashion.

I'm comforted by the fact that they've all enjoyed working/playing at Auburn enough to come back when given the opportunity. All of them are connected into the community here and that's really cool to see.
If they don't win though it doesn't really matter and they realize that

I do like that it would be extremely difficult for opposing teams to steal a guy like TRob or DCraig.
Also, I imagine it has more to do with it being easier to recruiting top coaching talent to their alma mater than someone with no connection.
I don't see us getting DCraig from FSU for example otherwise

I just wanted to let it be known that I love it. I feel that they have much more of an attachment to the University and football team that just some outsider would, and I feel that they are driven to be more successful. I don't think we have to worry about them slacking on the job, either, because I don't think they would want to embarrass a place they obviously love.
I think I view it kind of as a recruit sort of thing. If you grow up a huge Auburn fan and have the opportunity to play there or somewhere else, of course you want to be successful no matter what. But, then again, it drives you so much more to be able to play for a place you grew up loving.

They wouldn't make a lateral move, IMO.

Like all coaches, job security is what happens on the scoreboard Saturday.
It is more important that they are good coaches than where they played football.

One possible issue- what happens when an Auburn man sucks? It makes for a painful break up.

I just want to see winning football. Don't care where they went or who they coached before coming to AU.

Well we just pay them a $50,000 retention bonus and don't break up

I think they have a unique understanding of where the recruits can pull some bitches while on campus.

Tracy Rocker is an exception. One, I never thought he was that great a coach or a recruiter. two, he seems to have no problem coaching other places than Auburn.

Mike Pelton was an awful coach who played at Auburn. Was it tough on anyone when he was fired?

I think Pelton was "not retained" with the staff change. He wasn't "fired" in the way that say Garner would be if our DL is terrible another year or two and we don't win recruiting battles

Yet now, at Ga Tech, he's doing very well. And he was offered a position with Oklahoma (and chose to stay at Tech).
Maybe it was the system and not Pelton? And maybe that's why Rocker also took the first available move to get the hell out?
