Certainly not, but he's been on our staff for 2 years now, not just this year.

Also, if you haven't noticed, Jones and his staff can flat out recruit in general.

In his 3 years here he's gotten:

5-star F Jarell Martin - #12 player overall (2013)
4-star F Jordan Mickey - #37 player overall (2013)
4-star G Tim Quarterman - #72 player overall (2013)
4-star C Elbert Robinson III - #59 player overall (2014)
JUCO G Josh Gray - Leading scorer in JUCO and All-American (2014)
5-star F Ben Simmons - #1 player overall (2015)
5-star G Antonio Blakeney - #18 player overall (2015)

That's 6 Top 100 high school players with 3 being 5-stars

Malik Newman will just have to pick up the slack then. Thanks for sucking so hard Ole Miss. If y'all were any good, maybe he would've stayed in state. So sorry he doesn't want to play for the basketball genius that is Andy Kennedy.

Well in all fairness the best in the state traditionally has had next to nothing in interest for playing for Ole Miss no matter who was coaching there. They'd be more likely to go to State.

you should definitely give him a "geaux tigers" and hundred dollar handshake, even though Jones has probably taken care of his finances

Add to this Craig Victor, transfer from Arizona and top 50 player coming out of high school.

develop him.

While I get your concern, this isn't a kid that needs much development. Go watch his Sr highlights and then think about the fact that he's 6'8" or 6'9". If he didn't look to pass so much, he'd have ridiculous stats this year. He dribbles like a guard, passes like a guard, shoots like a shooting guard, but rebounds like a big.

He would have made a difference in this years LSU-UK game.

Jerry Meyer crystal balled Malik to LSU last night. Kentucky, you've officially been surpassed. CJJ runs shite now.

He does have ridiculous stats, shoots like 60 some % and averages almost 30 points a game on a fairly loaded team. He's definitely all of 6'9 now and could push to 6'10, similar to Jarell Martin. IMO this guy is a more basketball savvy Jarell Martin, they both have elite athleticism, but the big difference is Simmons has a very refined game already where Martin is still developing.

The only primary areas of improvement for Simmons are FT shooting and 3 point shooting, and he doesn't need to get much better doing either.

LSU already has him, his name is Ben Simmons. But also Jerry Meyer just CB'ed Malik Newman to LSU last night. If LSU gets him, they'll have the number one class in the country.

LSU will have a top 5 overall talented team next season with these three guys, add in Victor, and the current talent on the team. I can't imagine how sick it'd be if Martin or Mickey came back.

Ummm, hi..yeah, so, umm this is awkward, but yeah, like, ummm, Shepard, like, umm, sorta, kind, wasn't the #1 player like on a single, ummm, recruiting service.

Got to love the classic "you're stupid" comment placed directly behind a response that is, in fact, not correct.
