Which Alabama Basketball squad had the most talent?

Good question.
I'm not old enough to have watched them in the day but I would imagine the CM Newton team with King, Dunn and Douglas. Not sure how good the whole supporting cast were?
The Sprewell, Horry and Hollywood Robinson team seems stacked but Sprewell and Horry really blossomed more as pros.
The 93-94 team also had young Roy Rogers and Eric Washington on the bench, if I remember correctly, even if neither were big contributors that year.
Still, the number of actual NBA draft picks is pretty impressive. 10 or so losses and a #8 or 9 seed that year sure wasn't too impressive with that amount of talent though I recall it took a monster game from Glenn Robinson for #1 Purdue to knock us out of the tourney.

Probably 91-92, but that 86-87 team will always be my favorite. I remember sitting in my room listening to those games on the radio.
Got to see them vs Florida in Tuscaloosa when we won on a last second tip in, and when they played in Birmingham in the first and second round of the tourney. That's the year they ran into Billy Donovan and Providence in the Sweet 16.

If Gerald Wallace had stayed for his SO year we would have been deadly in 01-02.
Also, had Rod Grizzard stayed for his SR year, we could have been equally as deadly in 03-04.
Gottfried made me want to pull my hair out at times, but we had very good players leaving early. Who knows what we could have done had some of them stayed.
Luckily we don't have to worry about player leaving early now!!! /sarcasm

Gotfired was a terrible offensive coach. His "UCLA highpost" looked like dogisht. Small wonder his 2004 team advanced to elite 8 once he had to ditch that offense.

I think the best team (results wise) was the '86-'87 team (won SEC regular season & tournament, went to the Sweet 16). Best talent was probably '75-'76 as they 3 Bama all-time greats (Douglas, King, & Dunn) and was the team that came closest to ending Indiana's undefeated season...

I wouldn't say terrible...and we lost games in the Gottfried era due to defense, not the offense.

You forgot Roy Rogers on the '93 team. That team was a decent PG away from being great. Caffey,Rogers and McDyess, hell of a front line. Also on that team, Pitts, the second best perimeter defender behind Dunn at Bama, ever. Loved watching him play.

If u get right down to it, choosing anything post 2000 should not be included in this question. Even the elite 8 team couldn't hold a candle to the teams in the early 90s. Those teams were way better. Now I was too young to have seen the 75-76 team but that one still gets my vote.

that team was so athletic. If you didn't box out, someone was going to fly in and throw it back down. Fun to watch. Benoit had that sweet short jumper. That team should definitely be in the OP.
