Jaylen Brown odds

I say the odds we land him are slim to none as of now, but if we were to somehow beat UK Tuesday and play well down the stretch, what would be our chances? This is the type of guy who could put us over the top. He's going to be a top 5 pick in the draft one day. Would be huge.

It's very rare in baskteball for elite recruits to not go to elite basketball schools. Much more so than in football I feel like.

There are schools that are built for the one and done types (Kentucky, Duke, Kansas) and will continue to get them. And the rest just aren't. Now another school may get a one and done every now and then but they aren't built for it like those other schools. Just my opinion though...

I don’t want to be negative, but Jaylen is not coming to UGA. He never was coming to Athens. Rosemond is the only reason he even listened to our sales pitch. Elite basketball players gravitate to elite basketball schools regardless of location. He is a one and done player, so he needs proven infrastructure that will allow him to make the leap to the NBA in 2016. He’ll probably end up at one of the following schools, UCLA, Carolina, Kentucky or Kansas.

UCLA? Am I missing something about them. I agree with your post but I don't see them with the other group. I will admit that I don't follow basketball too much any more.

I guess KCP and the 8th overall pick of the draft isn't proven infrastructure. If he is good enough, he'll get there regardless of where he goes to school at.

This. I'm not saying he is going to come to UGA, I was just saying that if we beat UK, then the odds probably increase a little and you never know with these guys, he may want to be the face of a team.

What is your definition of "over the top"? Landing him would be a step in the right direction, but nothing more at this point

Recruits probably put very little thought if any into a teams win and loss record for a particular season, especially in basketball where a teams roster can be drastically different from season to season. Maybe a win would help us .01% but even that is being generous.
Sure, recruits don't want to go to a program with an awful record or trending in the wrong direction, but if they are using a teams current performance as a criteria for their decision then they are complete idiots. He will choose the school where he thinks he has the best shot at developing into the player that many believe he can be. I would be thrilled if he came to Athens but it is pretty much a pipe dream.

Are you saying that UGA having 1 player taken in the lottery is more apt to accommodate a one and done player? I'm talking about teams like Kansas and Kentucky that churn out lottery picks year after year. UGA is no where near that type of "infrastructure". Take off you red and black colored glasses. I love my alma mater but I can admit their deficiencies.

UCLA has that Atlanta AAU connection, so they will always be a major player in the metro Atlanta area. I could be wrong, but I think Brown has the Bruins in his top 5

Gee, I wonder why this is.
If Fox got the same type recruits as Cal or Self, I don't believe you'd see much difference in the results.
