Gonzaga and Minnesota in MSG, Seton Hall, @ Kansas State, @ Georgia Tech, Colorado, and Mercer.

Plus Stony Brook (108) @ Chattanooga (98) and Norfolk State (160).

Not world beaters or even interesting games by any means, but Georgia only played two truly bad teams in the non-conference schedule. It was a perfect schedule for us this year and we will definitely finish the season with a top 30 strength of schedule.

If anything, UGA has been scheduling over its head OOC. However, it helps in the end because our RPI doesn't take too many hits with any early losses due to the usually solid ranking of our opponents.

Right.

And like I said, if I'm somebody like Auburn who is running with a new coach and essentially a JUCO squad, then there's no way in hell I'm scheduling like Kentucky out of the gate.

Cal schedules like he does because he knows the neutral site experience (you'll notice it's almost always in an arena that will be featured in the NCAA Tournament) early will do the team a world of good come tournament time. And it balances out the lower RPI in conference that's improving but not quite there yet.

Uhhhh...what site are you looking at? I just checked 6 different ones, all of which had KU's SOS #1, and all but one didn't have UK in the top 25

Lsu might need to do well in the sec tourney. That sos might keep them out if the ncaa tourney.

Because Grant sucks and Bama doesn't need to make it any harder on themselves than it already is

Alabama's OOC schedule was pretty tough this year as it included @Witchita St, Iowa St (n), @Xaxier, UCLA, Ariz St (who was bad this year but solid program).

Some of the lower overall SOS rankings for the SEC schedules are a bit misleading since most programs were like Alabama and had a couple more big time matchups / tough away games than in recent years just maybe a couple too many very low RPI games for the SOS.

OOC games are basically "pre-season" games. most of them will always be against the cupcakes and not just because they are a rent-a-win. they only demand about a million bucks (they desparately need the money) which allows the SEC school to make more bucks to fund their entire athletic dept. budget. Title nine, fair or not, puts a tremendous strain on these budgets.

having said that, I believe SEC schools should play one top flight OOC a year. LSU and bama do. sometimes, LSU does two.

lastly, it's very hard to schedule a quality OOC opponent because they demand a 50/50 cut; that's why most of these games are held a neutral sites.

Ah I see. I was looking at overall SOS, not Non-conference.
