Why such terrible out of conference scheduling by SEC schools?

(Accidentally linked the wrong one)
I understand conference play will boost the SOS, but why are so many SEC schools afraid of facing quality opponents out of conference?

UF is #13 in Non-Conference SOS.
UGA is #31.
Kentucky is #1.
Your OP is wrong and poorly linked.

Didn't UK play Kansas, UCLA, Texas and Louisville this year?

They all pretty well upgraded from last season, which is why you're seeing more teams in contention for an NCAA bid then you saw last season. From all accounts they're continuing to upgrade in future seasons. You'd have to be functionally retarded to not see that.
Kentucky is at #22 even with Texas losing it's dick off as of late.
Sorry, Florida still sucks this season even with a good SoS.

It took y'all getting money whipped by a po dunk colorado school for y'all to agree to play a non conference game outside the state of Florida in football.

Overall SOS has UK at #1, UF at #23, and UGA at #34.

It's hard to schedule big OOC games when a major conference is perceived as second rate. Now that the SEC is on the upswing the OOC schedules will improve.

We aren't playing Colorado state at their place. But nice try to think we would play outside of Florida. We do play Michigan in Dallas in 2017 at least. Try having FSU on your schedule every year and we will talk.

We scheduled better out of conference this year than we normally do. It paid off in the long run because some of the better teams we beat have done relatively well. SMU is top 25 and Dayton has a top 30 RPI. Iona is a pretty solid win OOC win for us too.
Last year our non-con schedule killed us. We played a few 200+ teams and it drug our RPI down all year long. We avoided that this year and it really helped.

But the miss states of the world have something like #150 SOS.

251 actually
And they went fricking 7-6 against that stretch.
That's embarrassing

When you are the best, it's numerically impossible to play the best

Then why don't you ask why Mississippi State has such terrible OOC scheduling then? Because it's obviously not a conference as a whole problem.

I really just haven't been blown away by the match ups except for some of the Kentucky ones and florida playing miami. Everything else just seems very unappealing.

It's because the SEC hired that schedule expert last year. The non-con scheduling was vastly improved this year and is one of the reasons the SEC could get 6 teams in the tournament.

UGA played Gonzaga and Minnesota in MSG, Seton Hall, @ Kansas State, @ Georgia Tech, Colorado, and Mercer.
That's not total garbage.

Your appeal =/= whether OOC scheduling is good for a team or not.
It would be unreasonable to expect teams that have a hard time winning in conference and have had a pitiful OOC schedule in the past to break down and schedule someone like Wisconsin or North Carolina on the regular. It would actually be counter productive to do so.
They're doing it the way it should be done. Build up your SoS at the same rate that you're building up your team. Gradually, but at enough of a marked rate that you improve your potential NCAA standing.

If anything, UGA has been scheduling over its head OOC. However, it helps in the end because our RPI doesn't take too many hits with any early losses due to the usually solid ranking of our opponents.
