Posted this on twitter. Here's my lasting memory of Anthony Mason. Awesome 7 game series with him and the scrappy Knicks taking it to and bringing the best out of my Chicago Bulls in the 1992 playoffs. LINK

Dont follow basketball at all, but major regrets to see a man die so young, leaving a family.
Prayers to the Mason family.

It's devastating to hear especially after it seemed like he was recovering well.
This truly depicts the uncertainty that is life.

Probably insensitive I know, but how does this impact Antoine's stay at Auburn?

As is appropriate, Mason will be in New York with his family. He will not be playing in the game this evening.
I also learned from the al.com article Pearl gave him the option of leaving the team permanently to fully focus on his dad's deteriorating condition.
I hope he returns in about a week to finish out the season. If it were me, although I would have a heavy heart with the memories constantly running through my head with my father, I would want something else to take my mind off of it.

Back when the NBA used to mean something. Mason, Oakley, McDaniel, Ewing, Starks. fricking awesome.

Mason's dad had encouraged him to finish out the season and keep playing earlier. I imagine that Mason will be back at least for a couple games + to graduate.
Sad to hear this news. You could tell that Anthony Mason tried real damn hard to be a great father and emphasized academics as well as basketball. Don't see that too much

Heavy heart here today. Hoping Antoine finds the time to grieve and reminisce on the great times he had with his father

Greg Anthony, Derek Harper, Charles Smith, Pat Riley as HC....
It's really unfair that those Knicks teams never won a championship, even when Jordan came to Birmingham.

I don't know how they didn't win when Jordan was gone. Same for the Suns with the Barkley
ETA the Suns have like a top 5 all time win % yet are the only team that doesn't have multiple NCs in that category

A HORRIBLE Game 7 by John Starks in the 1994 NBA Finals is why they don't have a ring.
The Suns couldn't beat the Rockets, either.
