He was so solid he flipped to Alabama. Too solid.
Exactly, he lied to our staff.

Your staff probably should have seen all of this:
quote:
Unofficially visited and received an offer from Alabama on September 13th
Was visited by Tide coach Billy Napier on October 3rd
Took an unofficial visit to Ole Miss on October 4th for the Bama game
Unofficially visited Alabama on November 15th for the Mississippi State game.
Got a visit on December 8th from Tide OL coach Mario Cristobal
Officially visited Alabama on December 12th.
His last trip to LSU at any point was on September 20th.
That, to me, seems obvious that he was at the very least wavering on his commitment.
I'm not sure how else to explain it.

Of course you do. No one else does, but that's irrelevant.

At what date did he sign these financial aid papers with LSU?

It was in the fall before his unofficial to Bama, I believe.
ETA: According to TE Advocate, she signed in August.
"Matt Womack, an offensive tackle from Mississippi, signed a financial aid agreement with LSU in August intending to enroll at the school in January."

Look, I would trust the Womacks and not blame them if this would have happened yesterday:
Womack on twiter would have said:
" I would like to say I never attended to deceit anyone. I thought I was going to LSU, but my mind changed to Bama. I wish LSU all the best and respect coach Miles and his staff, and look forward to the opportunity to meet on the field. Roll tide!"
That would let me believe he is a good kid that changed his mind, and LSU got fricked by a stupid rule. But his gloating about it makes him trash, and his parents trash for allowing him to do so

Which points have I glossed over and not provided a solid rebuttal to?

Pretty much all of them that show your argument is a about as solid as a house of cards. I'm done arguing with you though because when I provide more speculation to your stance you will just ignore it and keep trolling.

Whatever you say, bud.
If you can look at the timeline of events that I posted and still conclude that the LSU coaches should have believed that he was solid, then this conversation really is pointless, and we'll just agree to disagree.

OK...he signed a financial aid agreement with LSU in August yet, per Tuscaloosa's timeline, he continued to be recruited, was formally offered, and, and continued to take vistis to Tuscaloosa and from Bama coaches all during the fall. So, clearly he was never "solid" to LSU. He never signed an LOI when he signed the aid papers and the aid papers do not bind him to agree to play football for LSU.
LSU coaches/staff contact him to facilitate the aid and his enrollment despite no LOI in hand. I find it highly implausible they didn't know he was still showing a high level of interest in Bama during this time.
I'm sorry. It is kind of shitty for LSU but no LOI was ever signed, it was obvious that he was considering Bama, and it's just as probable that LSU jumped the gun on contact to facilitate the aid to keep his commitment solid. Nothing nefarious but was impermissable.
This is just not Alabama's fault or responsibility.

I don't really see this as Womack's responsibility either although he maybe could have handled it better. LSU got played because LSU was his fallback plan if Bama didn't offer him. At the point when he signed the aid papers with LSU, he didn't have commitable offer from Bama. So he he was lining up LSU as it appeared that is where he thought he was headed. Bama decided in fall they wanted him and he wanted to play for Bama first and foremost. He didn't sign the LOI with LSU and LSU jumped the gun here. Again, the recruiting game sucks, but this is on the LSU coaches not on the recruit or Bama.

quote:Uhhhhh, I mean potential blame for how he handled it afterwards. If he comes out yesterday and is respectful to Les Miles, nobody would think he possibly was deceitful on purpose. But when you act like he did yesterday, it makes it look that he may have done this on purpose. Do you really not agree?
I don't really see this as Womack's responsibility either
