game is @arkansas.

quote:

We know their going to want to run the ball. How vastly improved will we be by then? This is an important game before conference play and we're playing at their place. They looked strong against Texas too, so this one is going to be really difficult to win. Hoping we can put up more points with Mahomes in the mix, could be a different ball game with the deep threat we've been needing for quite some time. Also, we need a really good offseason developing players

quote:

I don't think 500 yards rushing for them is out of the question.

quote:

Insert bullet, lift to temple, pull hammer, engage trigger. Repeat.

quote:

If it wasn't for Webb having one of his bone headed turn overs right before half last year we would have had that game in control and the game would have been completely different

quote:

If our offense can play like they did against BU we will win this game!!!!!!

quote:

Honestly, i thought we were going to win that game. Then, reality set in. I do think that we will give them a better game than we did last year.

quote:

This game will be won or lost in the 4th quarter. Defense must improve enough that we aren't laying a red carpet for the end zone on every run play. IMO, we will be improved on every side of the ball. So, I certainly don't think this game is in the bag for Arky.

quote:

They'll be better, but we will be as well. Looking at the box score from last year, we had some bonheaded plays Tech fair caught a punt on the 5 yard line, Grant fumbled a few plays later on the 15. Arky scored 2 plays later. 2 minutes to go in the half, Webb threw a pick on our side of the field, returned to 12. Arky scored 1 play later. Then an 84 yard run by Arky. Then Webb threw another pick. Wasn't a good game, but winnable.

quote:

500 to 600 yards passing for us isn't out of the question either. Our offense was starting to get back to the score every time attitude with PM at the helm.

quote:

They will not necessarily be better. Their offense will be, but they lost a LOT on defense, including their 3 best players. Teams like Arkansas don't lose 3 NFL caliber players on D and just replace them. The potential to score a lot of points is certainly there.

quote:

Y'all are gonna rip Lubbock? You guys are in freaking Arkansas....the butt of like 99% of the marry your cousin jokes. I honestly don't have a huge issue with Arkansas cause we just don't clash a lot head-to-head. Although, maybe your guys should take the time to actually READ what we said. We have our idiots on this board too, but we aren't calling you guys an easy W...in fact, the consensus is that it'll be an easy L. There's definitely a healthy amount of credit we've given you guys.

Texas ran for 241 yards against Texas Tech last year. Yes, the same Texas that rushed for 2 yards against y'all.

Collins and Williams could easily combine for 400 and the back ups could give you another 200 or so.

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Jonathan Williams ran for four touchdowns and Alex Collins added two more to lead Arkansas past Texas Tech, 49-28, on Saturday in a matchup of two former Southwest Conference foes.

Williams finished with 145 yards on 22 carries for the Razorbacks (2-1). He scored on rushes of 6, 13, 12 and 6 yards.

Collins finished with a career-high 212 yards on 27 carries, the longest an 84-yard TD in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Although Arkansas didn't have a very good passing game, we did have at least a little bit of one. Certainly more than we did in the '13 season. We ran and ran and ran on Techsas and didn't even try to throw the ball much, only because we didn't even have to try to throw it to win that game handily. None of us realized that at the time, so early in the season. As a matter of fact, we handled all four of our OoC games in this manner, and a poster on the Texas board said something to this effect before the Bowl game:"It turns out this is what they do if they think you're a bitch."

Both Tech and and Arkansas are going to take a big step back on defense next year. On the other hand, we're both going to have improved offenses. When you realize that we beat them @Lubbock literally without trying, I don't see how they're going to be so improved @Fayetteville that they will be able to overcome us.

Tech should be a nice warm up for A&M

Their fans are absolutely delusional though - if Jim fricking Chaney made your defense look like they belonged on the JV squad, they should seriously should just give up football.

?

Tech will probably improve, Gibbs is a good coach and it's hard to get much worse than they were last year

And as for our defense, I doubt they improve, but I honestly expect them to stay around the same place they were towards the end of the season, which is pretty damn good. You don't turn around the 78th ranked defense into the 10th ranked one and have it be a fluke - it just means you and the rest of the defensive staff are damn good.

Our surprising increase in defensive prowess is no doubt attributed to the staff. We didn't have a whole lot of star power in Flowers and Spaight. I fully believe we're in good hands with Smith, but I'm just not going to believe we're going to continue to have a top ten defense year-in and year-out at this point until I see a trend. Probably because I'm objective and reasonable, unlike the TT fans who seem to think they'll be able to match us next year. I hope we have some players who step up, but we lost like half of our defensive production in those three players leaving.

good points

And I wouldn't be surprised if we drop off, I'm just not expecting it. Hopefully the secondary will continue to improve, which could mask some of the production lost up front

But you're right it will be hard to replace all three of those guys.

Our defense was downright elite last year. The good news is we don't need it to be exactly elite to be competitive in every game when you look at what our offense is bringing to the table.

We get a fifth year senior QB who, despite not fulfilling our lofty expectations set by years of Mallett and Wilson, has noticeably improved each and every year, and should continue to do so. I'm not going to scoff at having a RS senior at QB in a system that doesn't demand the QB to save every game single-handedly.

WR, which was probably our worst position, gets a 4* JUCO in Reed who will be ready to plug and play, and our supposed big-time recruit JoJo is coming off of RS. There's no guarantee these guys will play as advertised, but I don't see how they won't have slightly more production than what we previously had.

We return maybe the best TE in the nation and brought in probably the best TE haul in the '14 class.

And then we return both of our heralded RBs with another year of experience.

I don't think it's a coincidence that we had guys emerge as big-time play-makers when Smith was brought on as DC. I also don't think that every player on the roster is capable of achieving that. Either way, we're probably just going to drop off from great to good, which is fine by me.

This will be an even worse beatdown than last year, Kingsbury is clueless. Can't believe he's their head coach.

I was as wrong as any poster about the Tech vs. Arky game in 2014, I won't be making the same mistake in 2015. Nothing establishes a culture of solid defense like having 7 defensive coordinators in 7 years. Pat Mahomes will help Tech win 6 games in 2015, but Arkansas won't be one of them. The only way this game doesn't get out of hand in the first two quarters is if Pat plays out of his mind, I will be there in person. First drink is on me.
