Why do teams w/ Top 10 recruiting class who end season outside top 25

Receive more attention than teams with recruiting class outside the top 25 who end season ranked in top 10 or 20?

Teams that finish with top 10 recruiting classes usually have huge fanbases. ESPN and other media outlets are going to pander to them because it makes them more money
