without reading the thread....The NCAA actually is punishing a school for breaking the rules, right?

Just trying to make sure.

Early admission deadline is Nov 15 so it would have been one month genius

again, this is totally irrelevant info. By providing FAA docs, Womack was already admitted. The only question was whether he would enroll. He didn't need to meet LSU's normal student deadline (and LSU routinely waves it for athletes anyway)

The retroactive thing can be negated. It has wiggle room to play with. I bet either you a case of beer that LSU beats this

The NCAA as yet to make a ruling

The SEC is upholding a NCAA rule that will ultimately be left up to the NCAA after the investigation

I made my bet for either of those two guys. Let's see who will be be right

Doesn't surprise me that the NCAA ignores blatant cheating...

investigation? What investigation? There's nothing to investigate. LSU self-reported

You are wish-casting that the NCAA will step in and overrule the SEC's punishment. But conferences have a right to enforce their own rules. And the NCAA isn't exactly looking for more work. The only time the NCAA would overrule a conference is if they thought the punishment was too light.

I'm sure that's based on 'what you're hearing' right? you realize if it can be negated like that, it completely undermines the purpose of the NCAA amending it in the first place since that was at the heart of it.

You basically tossed out a bunch of random information but didn't cite anything useful. And I wouldn't be that surprised if the punishment was reduced because it does seem pretty harsh.

But the kid's dad acknowledged LSU was worried about it back in September and knew they'd have to report it if it happened based on his comments.

quote:

"LSU is not using it because if Matt was to change his mind they would have to report it," he said.

Using the words NCAA investigation, is simply calling a committee by its name. And the use of investigation is more of a procedure for self reported violations. That is who will review all material concerning this self reported infraction. You still get a chance to present all the material and bring up questions and concerns.

Bet still stands! We can argue all day but put up or shut up

You've been upvoting yourself, haven't you, old sport?

You still haven't said anything of substance. At all.

And a big part of your argument was:
quote:

If you read the rule in all of its entirety then you would have noticed the amendment about the school that he signs the first FAA is the only legal institution that may contact him in the dead period. Remind me whose agreement he signed first?

So yeah it will be pretty clear cut and dry.
Which really just makes it clear cut that your reading comprehension sucks since the amendment got rid of the first school signing part rather than adding it in.

I have to be honest here. You ramble so much changing your position and all that you're hard to keep up with. What's this bet you speak of?

I think it is stupid but it wasn't like LSU wasn't aware of the risk

I hear that the kid gave them all indications he was solidly on board. Something happened to that kid to have him change his mind. You could say he "saw the light" and signed with Saban. That would be on par, right?
