How's that B A degree in Sociology working out for you?
Ken Starr says it's A&M's fault and he is going to sue.
Yeah man Sociology is definitely what I majored in. Guess that's why I work for a big five accounting firm.
Keep running your mouth, we have more Big 12 titles in the last two years than A&M had in it's history in the conference.
I have no idea what's going on now with this since the NCAA tweeted out that he was eligible. According to the team, he was definitely ruled ineligible.
It's just starting to get weird.

yeah, no idea. Strange story. Honestly if it wasn't Baylor I'd just think this was a misunderstanding. Maybe that's what it is but I'm skeptical because we hear stories like this from Baylor a couple of times a year.
If I had to guess, some other school (Tech and TCU both come to mind since things are quite acrimonious with both football programs right now) threatened to report BU for paying this guy. Baylor staff then tells kid "sorry NCAA denied" when they never checked on it. Kid goes on twitter, ESPN picks up story of big bad NCAA. NCAA says they know nothing of it.
Whatever...it's all over my twitter feed right now with the local press investigating

Being a former student it wouldn't surprise me if Baylor to just totally made it up somehow. Definitely shady.

exhibit A of the evidence that the big 12 is a pile of boards rotting on a shore of sharp rocks. TCU will be the "power" of that heap of dung, no wonder they are begging for a playoff expansion with autoqualifiers!

Maybe you know more but I was told Tech turned Baylor in over the Stidham recruitment. A Tech friend said they were digging up dirt on Baylor because of how that went down. I wouldn't be at all shocked if we find out this is fallout from that.
I haven't paid enough attention though so I'm probably only hearing one side of the story but Stidham sounded pretty sketchy.

If they were a close family friend that the player knew prior to being recruited then it's legal. If this 'friend' only appeared after he started being recruited and he had no prior relationship with him then it's not allowed for very obvious reasons. The NCAA isn't going to punish you if a genuine old family friend does that but they will if this 'family friend' only showed up in your life during recruitment and just happened to be affiliated with a team that was recruiting you.
Also, he could've taken out federal grants and loans like every other student. His situation is not so dire as he'd have everyone believe.
If this was a real family friend then the guy has every reason to be angry and should appeal the ruling. However, if this was a 'football friend' who hooked him up then he did this to himself because it's just pay for play under the guise of 'friendship'. That said, stripping someone of complete eligibility is a bit much - why not lose a year of eligibility instead.

^So this kid just put out a sob story that's nothing more than bullshite. I hope for his sake, he was given bad information because otherwise he's a complete idiot that went whining because he didn't understand the facts in front of him.

A good friend of mine was the sports editor in Stephenville at the paper there and knew Stidham and the people around him personally. There was no wrong doing there. The kid's gf went to Tech and her parents were both big alumni there and that's why he originally committed to Tech and then ultimately I guess decided he didn't want to play for a crappy program. From what my friend told me, Stidham had been mulling it over for awhile before it actually came out.
It's nothing more than Tech fans being butthurt.

Yet Bama can pay players every year and give them free weed?
Posted on 2/25/15 at 5:28 pm to TutHillTiger
If he was worth a shite theREC would have put him on payroll and he would have been set at Bama.
