I don't think anybody can make a solid argument for Pinkel having his own evaluation system that is better than the recruiting sites vs. better conditioning vs. better coaching, but to go from #31 to #5 vs this system shows that he must be doing something different.

This article is stupid. So, they considered several programs with no national titles, no conference titles, and in some cases not even a BCS bowl appearance as top 10 performers from 2012-2015? Plus, they list Rivals as the recruiting ranking. 
Here is Missou at number 6 for on the field performance.

I believe it is only based on class of 2012 recruits. Maybe Mizzou had shitty 2011 and 2013 classes?

Patterson is a dual threat though. He is not strictly a guy that sits in the pocket and picks you apart, which he can do very well.
