The first Alabama-Tennessee game to be played in Tuscaloosa since 1930. Alabama won that game by the score of 18-6 on their way to a third national championship. They would not be so fortunate 69 years later as Tennessee's suffocating defense kept Alabama's offense in check for most of the game.

1999 #5 Tennessee vs. #10 Alabama

Hard to believe that we beat a really good Florida team twice that year, both times away from home. Our only losses came to a really good Tennessee team that had our number back then, and Louisiana Tech and Tim fricking Rattay. I was at that game and just remember the football flying all over the place. It's the first time I saw an air raid in person. I was just a kid, but remember convincing my father, who was rightfully disgusted, to stick around until the bitter end in the hopes Alexander could house one.

Then we went on to miss an extra point in the Orange bowl in overtime to seal defeat against Tom Brady and Michigan.

I'm not watching those highlights because I fricking hate Tennessee, but is that the year Jay Graham took one like 80 yards down the sideline in the 4th to seal it? I hate Jay Graham to this day

I think that was 1996.

The 3rd and 14 conversion late in this one reminds me of the entire Ohio State game.

We lost to UF and Arkansas, would have been a back to back NC for the Vols.

1999 was more talented than 1998, we just didn't have destiny on our side.

Same thing for Alabama in 1993 and 2010. Those two teams were more talented than their national championship-winning predecessors but circumstances arose that disallowed them to repeat as national champions.

I was there with my Dad and was 14. Was a great win and my first trip of 3 to T-Town...only win though.

That was a tough loss. I remember it being fairly close and didn't Tee Martin get hurt for a bit but came back in? Tennessee could run the football so well back then, it set up everything else. That's something Dooley never could do, have a running game. Butch seems to be getting them there again to where you have to stop their run.

What a strange season that was. Beating Florida twice was bad in the long run because we got an extra year of Dubose.
