In the board's opinion what 1 seed would we rather face? I mean obviously none of them are desirable, but what's the lesser evil?
Kentucky I wouldn't want any part of at all.
Gonzaga we already kind of know about since we've played them, and they are known for choking in the NCAAT. However, many say this is Few's best gonzaga team and maybe their best squad ever.
I don't know anything about virginia other than their defense is shut down and they force teams into some laughably bad scores.
I don't know much of anythign about Duke other than they have likely the #1 pick and maybe the best player in America.

If we had to pick Id choose duke. Virginia would crush our offense. Well gonzaga but I don't think they would make the bracket to set up a rematch with them or UK. In all honesty, it is probably better for us to lose a couple more and get a 10 or 11 seed. I just don't want to be worried about getting in. But we aren't moving up to 7 at this point unless we beat UK

Might be best to lose a few more and drop to the 12/13 range

2-2 and 1 win in the SECT and we'd get that 10 seed which would be sweeeeeet

To be fair....we aren't beating Wisconsin, Kansas, or Arizona either. Maybe a shot against Villanova. And it would be a harder first round matchup. I don't know what I want. I guess a 10 and pray that a 15 seed pulls the upset.

Id rather a 10 any day. The difference between the 7s and 8s is minimal. The difference between the 1s and 2s this year seem to be vast

Playing UK would be an automatic loss in the tourney. Virginia has a lock down defense which would be scary but they are a squad that hasn't really been there done that in the tournament the way Kentucky and Duke have in the past. I think our most favorable matchup would be Gonzaga. Playing a team that we are familiar with and are actually more athletic than would be our best bet in my opinion. As others have said, best case scenario is that we get a 10 seed, but if we do get the 10 that means that we are likely on the bubble and we really don't want that. It will be interesting for sure but man if we had not lost to USCe and Auburn at home we might be playing for a 7 seed right now. Oh well.

Playing UK would be an automatic loss in the tourney.
And true about the 7 seed quality. We could beat those teams and actual have a small chance against a 2.

Also...it's looking like we aren't getting a double bye in the tourney. We don't need to go one and done in the SECT if we are playing like the 12 seed or something. That could knock us out even if we go 2-2 down the stretch(and one of those wins not being UK.)
Like say we get the #5 seed(us and A&M are tied for 5th, although they have the easier schedule). We play the 12 or 13 seed which could be the Cocks or the Barn for a third time. Losing that would not be good for us.

I'd prefer the 5 actually. That'd put us playing AU/SC in round 1 (easily winnable) then the 4 seed next, who I'm sure we could beat whoever it is. Teh longer we avoid uk/arkansas the better. We're capable of beating anyone though (except UK) in the sect.

A lot of that depends on the health of Virginia. If they get Perrantes and Anderson back before the tournament.....no thanks. We may not score 35 against that team and would get utterly humiliated. If neither of them is available, UVA is beatable.
Duke is starting to roll and in my opinion would beat us worse than Kentucky. We have no matchup for Okafor inside and he's much more skilled offensively than any of Kentucky's bigs. Tyus Jones is lightning quick and Quinn Cook is an outstanding 3pt shooter.
Kentucky has the highest ceiling of any team in this tournament, but they do struggle to score sometimes. Catch them on one of those days and anything can happen. They are undefeated, and they have put some bad beatings on people, but they have also been taken to OT twice and a shorthanded UGA team was down by 5 with possession with 2 min left in Lexington. This is a great team, but they aren't 1990 UNLV or 1996 Kentucky.
Gonzaga is the one I would want to see because they're so reliant on jumpshots and those teams can go cold in March. Gonzaga will also enter the tourney under a TON of pressure to finally break through to the Final Four and I'm not sure how well they'll handle that.
Of the two seeds, Wisconsin and Kansas would hammer UGA, Villanova would win comfortably, and UGA could hang with Arizona but probably not beat them.

didn't say we couldn't lose them, we could lose to anyone. Fact is that if we have our full starting 5 (which btw, we haven't had in either SC game or against auburn) we can easily win those.

I mean we literally can't draw Kentucky if we are an 8 or 9 so that's nice. Is want gonzaga. I think they are better than most people do but they are a known commodity and we have film on them (of us not just any game film) which is huge. That's actually the draw I want the most probably.

it is a good thing we can't draw UK, not sure the committee would allow us to draw gonzaga either. Obviously any game vs a 1 or 2 is a long shot but I definitely think we would have a chance against Kansas, virginia if banged up at all, maybe Villanova.
But I'm honestly just worried about getting in first. A lot of bubbles can burst from conference tournament runs. Would love to get in and get at least 1 win in the dance.

Not only do we have to get in, but we need to win our first round game (I know it's technically the second round but that's stupid) before playing a really good team. Any tournament win would be huge for the program so I want us to be in the best position to do that. I care way more about the 8 seed we would match up with than the 1.

Sure doesn't hurt but it's too bad that other than beating Kansas they haven't done anything this season but become wildly mediocre.
