His recruiting is what scares me the most. It was my biggest concern when he was hired.

Bottom line is, regardless of wins/losses, I think other coaches would have had this team showing improvement by now.

KA already showed improvement with this team and you have even acknowledged it before. Don't pretend it didn't happen.

What they haven't shown is that they have actually gotten better at any one aspect of the game where you can consistently count on them demonstrating that improvement on a regular basis. They have shown flashes but those flashes have all but disappeared.

And they promptly regressed. Don't pretend that didn't happen.

Well. I don't know about improvements, but this team has gotten really good at a lot of things. Missing free throws. Easy layups. 8 foot jump shots. Passing the ball to absolutely no one and straight out of bounds. Not listening to their coach. Breaking team rules consistently. Being suspended for breaking team rules consistently. Being unable to some how run into a double team and not get fouled and or turning the ball over. Not being able to get the ball inbounds within 5 seconds and not smart enough to call a timeout before the 5 seconds are up. Not sharing the ball. Standing around instead of attempting to get open. Missing an uncountable number of 3 point shots. Not being able to transition to the other end of the court. Etc. Etc. Etc.

You can take the old horse to water, but ya can't make'm drink.

nothing is going to happen until Loftin brings in a new AD. Then anything can happen

The only thing I can think of that you missed was Post picking up 2 fouls in the first 2 minutes of a game. But I guess he was good at that already.

People forget that when KA was hired, he basically had to re-recruit Gant and Wright, and he was able to pull in Teki (although Fulford is mostly responsible for him).

I don't believe Fuller has recruited for us in some time. The early rumor was that he would be involved in some NCAA charges and will leave the team at the end of the season.

At this point, I don't think any good recruiter would matter. No Top 100 type guy will want to come to a team who cant even get to 10 wins.

We will get the scraps and leftovers. whoo.

There's some legit Anderson type players out there. The Iowa kid who went Juco would be great. The Wisconsin point guard. He's a 4* and can shoot. The IN juco Mulder. You land those cats and it could be a whole new ballgame next year.

As in, solid .500 ball.

Yeah, I was just hoping for a legit star player (Thomas Bryant)... I don't doubt that some of those other guys will play hard....in fact, I'm uber excited about Terrance Phillips. Kid can hoop. I'm just not a fan of JUCO players in general.

Seems that way.

We could see a big improvement next year just from the FR/SO getting better. However, if we don't land a competent big than all of that likely won't matter.

I think bigs are over valued at the college level. We won't beat UK without one, but we're not beating them with one anytime soon.

Looking at our schedule, that's the only game that stands out as unwinnable without a 5. A couple good 4 type players and you can still win 80-90% of your games.

We need scorers and playmakers more than we need a 5.

We may be saying the same thing when you say "big," just to be clear. Gant, JW3 and Rosburg could be a serviceable frontcourt with rotations, but we need another body there.

Forget KA's Mizzou connections for a moment. If we had hired a random older coach that had been at a non-Division 1 program, I would have had exactly the same concerns. If that coach took 12 years to win a title at the lower level and didn't even make the tourney 5 of those 12 years it would have sent up a huge red flag. It is not a ringing endorsement for a guy who aspires to win big at the next level. Couple that with the fact that this coach hasn't recruited at the level that the big boys do and you have a recipe for disaster. All of this was predicted before this season started.

But once you hire a bad coach, you cannot fire him after the 1st year without doing further damage to the program. Perhaps not even after two years. It sets a horrible precedent and nobody good would want the job after that.

Basketball is different than football. You can make huge strides from one year to the next.

What concerns me the most about this team are the mental errors that don't seem to be improving. Can it really be that all these kids aren't coachable/teachable?

I've been really proud in years past when Mizzou was under-talented but played smart and with great heart. I've been on teams like that. It's a solid foundation that can be built upon. I see nothing from this team, their playing style or the coaching that tells me that there's anything solid to build on.

To whoever said that wins this year don't matter is dead wrong. Wins show a team is improving. Wins keep fans engaged and the cash coming in to fund the program. Wins are important in a healthy program but crucial in a down year. Wins keep us from being a dumpster fire future coaches want to avoid.

Kills, I love you man, but I think Anderson getting us to a FF is a dream. Like most dreams, they fade when we wake up and come back to reality. I sure hope I'm wrong.

I pray for better and I sincerely hope I'm dead wrong, but here's my projection: Anderson gets 3 years and is asked to leave by the new AD. His lack of results over that 3 years will make it an easy decision. The fact that we gave him 3 years in the face of such awful teams will allow us to hire the next guy, hopefully someone who can win.
