The GP comparison is not very good. The two programs were in different places when they started. GP had been at a D1 school, winning in the process.
The football team had been through roughly two decades of bad teams. The basketball team has been basically a tournament team, year in, year out. Those who were calling for GP's job were overreacting to injuries and suspensions. But he earned the benefit of the doubt by his previous experiences. KA does not have that to lean back on, at least not at the D1 level.
I'm not in favor of firing a coach after one year, but I have yet to see any real progress made with this team. In fact, the progress we did make through non-con seems to have regressed.
Those arguing talent...is our roster really 5 wins worse than any other SEC team? Or is it something else, coaching perhaps? With our multiple top 150 players, do we not have the talent?
I don't care how experienced a team is, a team with heart and good coaching doesn't lose by 49 to anyone, or by 20+ at home.
I'm not saying KA can't turn it around, but I am saying that sometimes you just need to cut your losses on a bad investment. KA has next season to convince me that he can conjure a positive trend for Mizzou basketball.

I honestly liked the hire. Rome wasn't built in a day. I don't know if a coaching staff of Coach K, Izzo and Dean Smith could have won 12-15 games with this team.

I think people are underestimating how much this team is missing Wes Clark.

He hasn't been out the whole season.

No one, Coach K, Bobby Knight, etc could go anywhere with this team. Give the guy 3 seasons. If there is no improvement then move on...

Are the same people who would've fired Pinkel after 2001, 2004, or 2012.

But they would have shown improvement. That's what worries me. I was all for giving the guy 3-4 seasons, and still am UNLESS next year is a repeat of this year.

If you really believe that, then I just don't know what to say. With a top coach, this team would be playing on another level. To assume the results would be the same no matter what coach we have is crazy. We wouldn't necessarily be a ranked team but we wouldn't be an embarrassment with a top coach I guarantee.

You live in fantasy land.

So it's your position that this team's ceiling is 1 conference win.
Seems legit.

It's all part of the plan though.

Season isn't over yet but how do you judge the ceiling? Do you account for suspensions, injuries, etc.? Why does the number of wins matter when you are going to be dead last no matter what?
The record this year means literally nothing. This year the best we could hope for was to get tons of experience for the freshmen and then keep them from transferring. If that happens, then this year was a success for Anderson. Starting year 3, we will get a chance to judge what Anderson can do as a coach. Right now, he doesn't get to do much more coaching than to tell guys to stop playing stupid.

The blind support for Kim is still strong in some circles.

Waiting to judge is far from support, but with the IQ levels around here I can see why people get confused by it.

If the coaches name was Linc Darner, he would still get another year or two, but there would be absolutely no one defending him at this point. They let emotional ties enter the picture, and that's cool, as long as they're willing to let go of them if things continue as they are.

bingo.
The comment made by notsince telling someone they are living in "fantasy land" for suggesting another coach could have gotten more out of this roster is exhibit A.

Define more? 1 win, sure.....2 wins, of course... winning anything of substance? Hell no.

Bottom line is, regardless of wins/losses, I think other coaches would have had this team showing improvement by now.
