Marshall will be a solid 3rd CB. Sims won't make it.

Mark Richt could have told you that back in 2011. I don't think this is surprising to anyone.

Marshall won an SEC title at Auburn as a QB. Seems like that was the right career path in college.

How many college QBs made the successful transition to defense in the NFL? Who was the latest?

I don't think that's the opinion Mark would have offered but to his credit, he would not have given an honest opinion.

I can't recall any that lasted more than a few seasons as a DB in the NFL, after playing QB in college. Scott Frost comes to mind. I think he played safety for the Jets for a couple of years.

I honestly wouldn't draft either one. You only get so many draft picks. UDFA, sure.

wouldn't be surprised at all to see sims signed as a fa just to have a versatile qb on the practice squad ...

While I think they are correct the NFL hasn't been one for innovation on the offensive side of the ball for quite a while.

Yeah I don't think Marshall has a chance at CB, it's damn near impossible for a physically gifted QB to transition to another position. Frickin idiots who think Terrel Pryor or Tim Tebow could have played tight end, all these players best shots have been with their original position..

He really should go to WR. While not a speed demon, he has some shake in space and has great size at 6'1 215

Wat?

Julian Edelman, Josh Cribbs, Antwaan Randle El, Freddie Soloman, Brian Mitchell all have had legit impacts at other positions. Matt Jones would have been a good receiver had he not had drug problems, and Denard Robinson looked pretty damn solid at RB last season. You've also got guys like Brad Smith who contributed.

Most guys who switch stay on offense, but Marshall's case is different because he actually has some experience at DB and by all accounts he was looking very promising back there before he got kicked off at Georgia. I think he can make a legitimate impact, whether that is at CB or S ultimately.

Why should he go to WR when he has already played DB, and actually impressed? His size is even more impressive as a CB than it is as a WR.
