The one time that Henry, Patterson, and Eason were on the field at the same time Mike Farrell said it was no question Shea was the best but didn't want one day to be reactionary. Especially when the three will compete against each other in the QB challenge in Baltimore this summer. Rivals says this is the best QB class in a while and if the number one player isn't a DE, it will be a QB, and that QB right now would he Shae

So I guess it makes sense that they actually ranked Eason #1 overall in the update last week

ESPN
Eason- 4
Shea- 28

Patterson- 7
Eason- 22
247's composite rankings
Eason- 4
Shea- 15
Where exactly is SP already #1?

Forgive him
Word around the block was that Ole Miss got a 5* QB, which lead to them getting a top QB, which lead to them having the top QB, which lead to them having the #1 QB.

Eason is a 6foot5 gunslinger. Going to be hard for anyone at the QB position to top him. That being said, some of the other premier positions like tackle or defensive line may actually grade out higher at their position.

Lets just all name a player from our current recruiting classes and say he'll be #1.

So by this premiss Franks outplaying Shea and getting the offer that weekend would make him better than Shea. You said it not me, personally I think Dwayne Haskins as the ability to be better than both.

I don't want to let this doozie get overlooked, even though it's already been addressed.

Not everyone has a player commited that is actually capable of being the number 1 player. It's not unrealistic to say Eason will end up being number 1. He is already number 1 on rivals and has went up on every other site except scout. Several people in this thread have said Eason that aren't Georgia fans.
Easons tape
Some of the throws he makes in highschool are just stuff that you can't teach. He also has the height that you look for with very good footwork. There is a reason he has moved up in every ranking.

I think it'll be that QB from Shreveport, his name escapes me right now.

WTF happened with Scouts assessment of Eason?

I also think Nate Craig-Myers is good enough to be number 1

Of I'm guessing right now I'd go with Greg Little the OT from Texas. Kid is a stud and at a premium position. QB, OT, DE, DT as the premium positions in recruiting rankings so most years one if those positions will have the top player. Takes a rare talent at RB, WR, LB, DB to be #1 and I dont see a rare talent at any of those positions in this class.
Feaster and Walker at RB are the top guys but neither is a rare talent
The FL kid is probably the top wr but he's not rare either. In fact if going by freakish measurables and talent, if Drake Davis dedicates himself to football and works to be the stud he can be, he'd be the top wr in the country. 6'4 guys with his type of athleticism and speed are rare.
Lots of very good LBs with Davis probably the best but he may not even be the best LB in the country. He's no Jaylon Smith as a prospect
Savion Smith is a major talent at CB but not #1 overall worthy.
None of the Texas S that are ranked so high are in the class of Derwin James and he struggled to close in the top 5.
So we go back to the premium positions.
QB
Eason is the clear #1 to me. Patterson will be loved though because he is so piloished and consistent. Doesn't have the upside to be #1 though
OT
Little and the Hudson kid are both big time talents at OT. Willie Allen has a world of talent but is far from what those 2 are currently
DE
Manuel and Davidson are the top 2 right now IMO. Either could be #1 in the end. Manuel slightly ahead right now
DT
Just loaded across the board. In reality its hard to tell which one is the best at the position. So many vying for that spot. Mark my words though, if Kendall Jones ever puts it together consistently in camps and dominates like people think he should, he will get moved to the top. Analysts love him and in particular his body. Popularity can carry you in the rankings.

Whatever top 10 recruit commits to Alabama

Maybe it's because he is from the Pacific NW or maybe it's because I watched his Dad in the NFL but I never watched Eason's tape before now. He is going to be dayum good to...only thing I noticed was he has a bad habit of throwing off his back foot. As a huge Bears fan I can tell you that against good DBs that habit has picks written all over it (Jay fricking Cutler )
