SIAP . In honor of A. Roids hand written apology
quote:

Nick Saban, the Alabama football coach, showed a similar lack of perspective in 2007 when he discussed the Crimson Tide’s loss to Louisiana-Monroe by invoking some of the worst events in American history.

“Changes in history usually occur after some kind of catastrophic event,” Saban said. “It may be 9/11, which sort of changed the spirit of America relative to catastrophic events. Pearl Harbor kind of got us ready for World War II, and that was a catastrophic event.”

The apparent comparison was so outrageous that The Associated Press sought comment from a university spokesman, who tried his own version of the Jedi mind trick, insisting that reporters had not heard what they just heard.

“What Coach Saban said did not correlate losing a football game with tragedy; everyone needs to understand that,” Jeff Purinton, the spokesman, said. “He was not equating losing football games to those catastrophic events.”

Fbaum discussing on his show. When he introduced the subject of sports apologies I thought it would be Mike Price's apology for following his Destiny or Petrino's lament of his wild hog ride but alas, Saban wins again

How could it not be this? You show up wearing a neck brace and a Sugar Bowl (that you lost) hat and completely BS the entire thing

Although that may not have been the apology you were referring to

I don't see anything wrong with what Saban initially said. There was no reason to apologize.

Bobby takes the fricking cake - skint up head to toe, neck brace and lies like a dog about the whole damn incident. Then turned his arse around a repeatedly lied to Jeff Long and the UA administration.

Skeleton's were falling out of his closet for weeks in the wake of that bike ride.

After 9/11 the thought process of the American poeple changed .

After the loss to LM the thought process of the Bama coaching staff changed.

Both caused attitude changes.
Does the boog nation have a problem understanding a basic thought process ?

Nice dodge of the question.

The "boog nation" didn't write this piece for the new york times. Take your whining up with them instead of bringing up some made up angle involving Auburn fans.

This is why I never blame coaches and players who don't want to talk to media. We all want coaches to speak from the heart instead of prepared statements, but then when something comes out that does not sound quite right the media butchers you for it. Does anyone really think Saban meant to equate the loss of a football game to 9/11 or WWII? It was an illustration about overcoming hardship.

One of those things that totally makes sense in your head and then you say it out loud and shite I really shouldn't have brought up 9/11 and Pearl Harbor

it's one of those "he's actually human" Nick Saban moments

Looks like he was right. We lost 6 games in 2007 and have lost a total of 11 since then.

I honestly don't think we realize how blessed we are to have witnessed the Bobby Petrino meltdown start to finish.

I mean the biggest certified prick in the whole sport with a hoody, neckbrace, and skinned-to frick face with a bowl hat he lost in.

Look at that and really try to believe that was real life, not some cheesy funny scene in a TV show. And to see eventually where it all would lead and knowing that he lied so desperately to avoid that getting out is hilarious. I'm not even sure the official version of the truth is the truth... part of me wants to believe he got his arse kicked by the dude.

I wish that he had said the loss was like losing your bestest tree. Aubs relate to that.

Thanks Ida, how are you tonight. You haven't lost that "touch" I see.

I retract earlier post and choose to go with the loss was like having your favorite drunk teabagged.
